Job Title: Electrical & Wire Harness Designer This position will begin as a 6 month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Overview:
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire an Electrical & Wire Harness Designer in Sterling Heights, MI (hybrid role). This position will be supporting next-generation military ground vehicles. It will offer the chance to work on complex, mission-critical systems in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment. Youll be involved throughout the full design lifecycle using advanced tools to develop innovative wiring harnesses and electrical systems that meet the rigorous demands of modern defense technology.
Responsibilities:
Perform design and drafting for both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment.
Design wiring harnesses; create layout drawings and check schematic diagrams as supplied in rough form by electrical engineering.
Prepare wiring diagrams from schematic diagrams, and vice versa.
Manage overall line replaceable unit (LRU) chassis and housing design/drafting, including system packaging.
Select LRU/wiring harness components such as electrical connectors, electrical accessories, wire, shielding, shield terminators, terminal lugs, and similar items.
Produce schematic diagrams and/or CAD drawings for submission to customers, internal teams, or outside vendors to manufacture specified LRUs, wiring harnesses, and cable assemblies.
Ensure drawings and outputs are ready for direct input into data management configuration control systems.
Skills, Education, Experience Required:
We are seeking candidates who have a relevant Bachelors Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a relevant Associate Degree will also be considered with at least 9 years of relevant experience. Candidates without any degree (but with a High School Diploma / GED) may be considered with significant relevant experience (but a degree of some type is highly preferred).
5 years of Creo Design experience.
Experience working with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
Ability to complete designs from concept development, review, detailed design, and documentation, to verification and validation of simple sub-systems.
Proficiency with advanced modeling and analysis tools for developing product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration/verification procedures.
Expert knowledge of CAD drafting/modeling and design techniques.
Proven experience designing wiring harnesses/cable assemblies, including their routing and creation of detailed assembly drawings.
Competence in drawing generation utilizing Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years of experience).
Understanding of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to perform wire routing using Logical Data from Siemens Capital Harness.
Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications.
Capability to create wiring harness schematics with Visio Technical.
Strong cooperative teamworking skills, and effective oral and written communication skills, as this position operates in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:
Working knowledge of electrical engineering and electro-mechanical engineering tools is highly desired.
Work Environment:
This is a 1st (day) shift role working on a 9/80 schedule. Typical hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday (every other Friday off).
This will be a hybrid role (3 days on site, 2 days from home).
There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.

Responsibilities: As an Electrical Engineer at a Marathon refinery, you can expect to become familiar with industry codes and best practices, build critical thinking skills, and gain an understanding of how all engineering disciplines work together as a cohesive team. You will also gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with a team of professionals who run a specific portion of the refining process. Most often, Electrical Engineers will have an opportunity to work on more than one area of the refinery, leading to a broad understanding of how the plant operates. Finally, you will have the opportunity to expand your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment.
The majority of Electrical Engineering co-ops and interns enter into the following positions:
Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Project Engineers work on a variety of real-world electrical and instrumentation projects in a refinery setting. During your time at MPC, you will develop and utilize project management skills including scope alignment, cost and schedule development, and teamwork through multiple engineering phases. You will also support the area teams. We are committed to developing engineers into professional project managers who successfully manage projects of all sizes.
Reliability Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineers troubleshoot Electrical & Instrumentation issues at the refinery. As a reliability intern, you will help analyze failures of equipment, develop solutions for recurring equipment difficulties, submit Project Request Forms (PRF's) to implement solutions, and understand equipment maintenance strategies. There will be opportunities to use electrical analysis software to solve coordination issues and run Arc Flash studies for the power system, as well as learning and understanding about how our critical Refinery Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) are applied.
Process Control / Technical Service Engineers can work on a wide array of projects in support of the process control systems installed throughout the refinery and products movements areas. The process control systems in the refinery provide real-time control and data acquisition functions in support of operating the refinery process and electrical equipment. Typical college co-op assignments include the following: troubleshooting system power supply problems, control system programming, hardware and software lifecycle replacement projects, installing and troubleshooting communication networks and monitoring control system performance metrics.
Qualifications:
* Candidates must be majoring in Electrical Engineering
* Strong academic performance
* Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
* Positions are available spring, summer, and fall semesters
* Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
* A valid driver's license is required
* Concurrent enrollment in a degree seeking program
* Military experience a plus
* MIN - $31.38 per hour / MAX - $39.72 per hour
