Job Description
Electrical Engineer
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, design and installation of electrical control systems, machinery and supporting equipment in the manufacturing facility. Candidates must have five or more years of experience with project management and engineering. Responsibilities will include equipment installations, modifications, retrofits, and development. Primary responsibilities include the following
Essential Duties & Functions
Modify existing equipment as per production or tech service requests
Manage contractors and service technicians assigned; plus, work with service technicians and plant management to improve equipment to meet specifically defined goals on uptime and productivity.
Design and install new equipment to meet all plant objectives and goals.
Manage/control capital and expense budgets in order to meet plant objectives
Communicate and coordinate between internal manufacturing, product development resources, external suppliers, and contractors to complete the project.
Apply technical skills to all facets of the project (equipment specification, control system design/integration, process equipment checkout/startup, etc.)
Identify / evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into the existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
Develop and manage scope, budget and schedules for multiple projects.
Electrical project and design engineering. This candidate must be able to work alone as well as with a cross functional teams to identify potential issues, formulate, and implement solutions.
Outstanding ability to work in digital and analog process control systems
Sound proficiency in process control applications and database systems
Responsible for equipment safety and maintenance technical support.
Assemble bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages
Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors
Determine cost of engineering, labor, equipment and materials for projects
Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications.
Follow company policies as required
Perform other duties of equal or less complexity as assigned or directed by management
Engage and retain high-performance standards and elevate level of responsibility and performance
Skills/Qualifications
High knowledge of complicated electrical machinery and related equipment
Good grasp of electrical system installation requirements for classified areas
Excellent knowledge of OSHA NEC and National Electrical Safety Code standards
Strong ability to troubleshoot PLC and VFD electronic control systems
Exceptional skills in prioritizing work and completing multiple projects on time
Outstanding ability to work in digital and analog process control systems
Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision
Must be safety & quality cautious
Attention to Detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
Proficiency with CAD systems
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not expected to have supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Requires minimum 5 years of work related experience
Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Electrical project management experience preferred
Talented Automation and Controls engineer with hands-on experience in PLC (Rockwell preferred), HMI, SCADA, DCS, VFD drives applications development, systems integration, testing and troubleshooting. Conceptual design, project commissioning and start-up for industrial sectors preferred
Proven working experience in electrical engineering
Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma experience preferred
