BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management Services to the Federal and private sectors. Position Summary BB&E is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to provide Electrical Engineering design support services to support Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and associated efforts undertaken by NAVFAC Pacific, Planning Design and Construction Directorate, Design Division (PDC4) at NAVFAC Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI. Job Duties & Responsibilities Perform facilities electrical engineering design to include design calculations to size electrical services, service transformers, and secondary power distribution systems; calculations to size overcurrent devices, disconnect switches, and branch circuits and feeders; lighting calculations, lighting layouts, and specifying of light fixtures; develops drawings using AutoCAD and edits product specifications Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements Facilitate the minimization of project delays by providing technical reviews and recommendations when requested within predetermined timeframes Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria and Federal laws and regulations and provide sound technical recommendations both verbally and in writing Apply innovative technical principles, practices, and theories to the resolution of technical issues Coordinate with the Government client, NAVFAC team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies Coordinate and facilitate meetings, make recommendations based on project requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate plans of actions and milestones (POAMs) and effectively communicate findings to project personnel; provide written minutes for all meetings Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design bid build projects, project deliverables, submittals, cost proposals from contractors, etc. to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements Provide technical support for the review of the commissioning plan, design and construction submittals, and field inspections Provide technical support for the construction field activities Provide summaries of accomplishments during weekly meetings and in a prepared monthly status report Field investigations are excluded; no travel required Requirements U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain Secret Clearance (Tier 3 preferred) is required Certification: P.E. desired, but not required Knowledge Well versed with the National Electric Code Demonstrated knowledge of broad-based Engineering principles and versed in Electrical Engineering Sound understanding of technical concepts, principles and practices applicable to multi-disciplined engineering project design Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences; demonstrated experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and in briefing management personnel Software: Proficiency using AutoCAD 2022 and Revit 2021, and MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to adapt to new software such as eCMS, MS Teams and Zoom as necessary Experience & Education Experience: A minimum of 6 years of Design Management and/or Design experience; demonstrated experience performing facilities electrical engineering design to include design calculations to size electrical services, service transformers, and secondary power distribution systems; calculations to size overcurrent devices, disconnect switches, and branch circuits and feeders; lighting calculations, lighting layouts, and specifying of light fixtures; developing drawings using AutoCAD and editing product specifications Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Engineering college Physical Requirements: To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to perform the following: Ability to stand/walk/climb/kneel/crouch and remain in a stationary position/sit at least 60% of the time. Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Capable of lifting up to 10 lbs. Ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away. Ability to understand the speech of another person, speak clearly so listeners can understand, and talk or hear both in person and by telephone.
