Job Responsibilities
* Proposal Development: Analyze client RFQs, clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, and create compliant proposals for electrical/control panels and automation for vacuum systems, including circuit sizing, component specs, and safety calculations, adhering to NEMA, NEC, UL508A, UL1203, NFPA 496, and NFPA79 standards.
* Electrical and Controls Design: Generate and modify electrical and control system designs for automated vacuum systems, ensuring compatibility with customer specifications, standard, and custom applications. Select components such as PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and analog transmitters based on operational parameters.
* Programming: Develop, configure, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and VFD programs for automated vacuum systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality for standard and custom applications.
* Documentation: Create and maintain sequence of operations, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical wiring diagrams, and other engineering specification documents to guide system design, testing, and commissioning.
* Testing and Validation: Conduct bench tests and final system testing in production environments to validate conformance to design requirements, completing required quality documentation.
* Commissioning Support: Write start-up and commissioning procedures for electrical installations and provide on-site assistance, including personnel training on Busch vacuum systems.
* Project Support: Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to create bills of materials (BOMs), log project hours, and generate shop orders. Assist in preparing project cost and work-time estimates.
* Technical Collaboration: Work with engineers, sales, and Agile teams to identify, define, and resolve technical issues, promoting solutions that align with business requirements.
* Leadership (Level III): Lead the electricalengineering team in the absence of the Engineering Manager, supervise Electrical Designer/Programmers I and II, and contribute to the development of engineering guidelines and procedures.

Insight Global is seeking a Mid-senior level ElectricalEngineer to support the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project - a 2,600 MW offshore wind farm with 176 turbines, 3 offshore substations, and major high‑voltage subsea infrastructure. Work includes power system studies, energization, protection, and supporting commissioning across Richmond and Tidewater. The ElectricalEngineer will work closely with the CVOW project managers, internal and external stakeholders, and package suppliers to support the design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of our client's offshore wind projects. This person must be willing and able to travel between Richmond and Norfolk as needed. This will be a 1 year contract with renewals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform as lead technical contact (SME) on HV/MV electrical systems and equipment. Perform walkdowns, inspections, and verifications of said systems in the field and/or on site when necessary.
- Evaluate equipment proposals to ensure conformance with project specifications and grid requirements.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to review and comment on project documentation (system design, engineering drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, non-conformance reports, etc.). Assess design-level documentation with field installations when necessary.

The Role
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
This position is for an ElectricalEngineer 3 in support of the GERALD R. FORD Class Aircraft Carrier propulsion plant planning yard (PPPY) team, responsible for the Regulating Valve Controller (RVC) and Gate Valve Actuator Controllers (GVAC) within the propulsion plant. The PPPY supports aircraft carrier new construction, testing, and delivery; in-service maintenance; and fleet operations. Areas of responsibility encompass procurement of new machinery and technical support of in service machinery. Procurement activities include defining design objectives, establishing specifications and requirements, overseeing suppliers to ensure their products meet these objectives and requirements, and ensuring delivery of technically compliant products that support ship construction and test schedules. Technical support activities include supporting shipyard and navy personnel who operate the RVC/GVAC components by providing advanced troubleshooting guidance, and identifying beneficial design improvements and maintenance practices. The position requires strong technical writing skills, the ability to proactively identify and resolve technical design issues, and the interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with Navy, NAVSEA, NNL, Supply Chain, shipyard trades, engineers, project managers, and various NNS departments. Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose faults, replace components, and restore systems to full operational capability.
Document maintenance actions, test results, and system status in accordance with Government and contractor requirements.
Support PNT engineers, technicians, and program staff in the integration and sustainment of navigation and timing systems.
Assist with testing, evaluation, and verification of PNT-related electronic components and subsystems.
Contribute to system upgrades, modernization efforts, and prototype evaluations.
Ensure all work aligns with PNT mission requirements, technical standards, and operational constraints.
Apply formal electronics training to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality work.
Follow established procedures for handling, installing, and maintaining sensitive electronic equipment.
Support continuous improvement of installation and maintenance processes.
Required Qualifications:
Active Secret security clearance.
Ten (10) years of practical experience in electronics repair, maintenance, and checkout.
Three (3) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices.
At least four (4) years of practical experience in electronics installation (may be concurrent with other experience).
High School diploma or GED.
Formal electronics training from one of the following:
Technical School
Class A or B military school in electronics or communications
Four-year electronics apprentice program
Formal electronics training must include:
Installation tasks
Soldering
Cable dressing
Cable tray and conduit work
Making and repairing connectors
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting U.S. Navy systems, shipboard electronics, or navigation equipment.

The Role
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
This position is for the Interior Communications (IC) group working on Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers.
A successful candidate will be able to do the following:
• Technically review engineering products (i.e. drawings, eIRs, DFS, DLAR, DIM, etc.) that will be issued to the waterfront and/or government.
• Rapidly troubleshoot waterfront issues and help drive resolutions to completion.
• Maintain knowledge of governing requirements to ensure deliverables stay in compliance.
• Mentor and train less experienced teammates.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
