Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities: * Provide electrical and control support for Manufacturing, Envops, Plant Engineering and other departments throughout the division * As a technical expert, provide Electrical & Control Systems support to all the departments throughout the plant. * Support Lean initiatives, Value Stream Programs and Kaizen events * Key support for any ongoing initiatives related to safety and quality improvement * Program PLC's and Variable Drives (which includes creating new projects, modifying existing ones and supporting ongoing End-of-Life Cycle migration programs) * Lead and work with multi-functional groups to achieve project team objectives * Provide leadership and instruction, as required, to implement new installations and train others in safe and effective practices * Plan and develop Capital Project requests, including the financial estimating and business justifications * Work closely with Maintenance and Operations personnel to investigate equipment malfunctions and/or new installation design and development * Use the most recent Plant and Business Area safety, environmental, and quality review process to allow capital and expense projects to be planned, designed, and installed in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations * Conduct final safety review of all project installations and interface with all levels of management to report weekly and monthly updates as needed * Provide project management leadership and skills to direct others and keep assigned projects within timeframe and budget, to include, maintaining budgets and work schedules, organizing, and participating in shareholder meetings and ensuring all deadlines for certain projects are met * Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements, if necessary * Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions * Plan and manage team goals, project schedules and new information * Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track * Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored * Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails * Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives * Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures * This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA Requirements: * BS Degree in an Engineering discipline or AS Degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant experience * Project or Production Engineer experience with demonstrated quality performance * Ability to investigate, analyze, plan, design and direct the execution of a variety of engineering solutions * Proficiency with PLC's and variable speed drive programming * High power electrical and transformer knowledge * Ability to learn new software programs and use CAD * Ability to support a 24/7 operation * Some business travel to off-site locations on occasion - outside travel required to develop projects in support of business objectives, visit vendor facilities, conduct trials, attend seminars, training, and other company sites Ahlstrom is a global leader in combining fibers into sustainable specialty materials.
