The position reports to the Product Engineering Manager. The position supports the design and development of new trailer harness projects and the enhancement of existing products for Truck-Lite's OEM, fleet, trailer, and body market customers. Initial responsibilities include:
* Develops working knowledge of Truck-Lite products to support customer technical needs.
* Uses NPI guidelines to deliver Systems Integration projects on time and meeting cost targets.
* Provides product engineering support to manufacturing engineering and the manufacturing floor.
* Electrical Connectivity for Heavy Duty applications including considerations for Lighting, communication, and power transmission.
* Supports future growth and opportunities through the development of devices and compatible hardware to operate in a heavy-duty environment.
* Develops statement of works that are used to define the requirements of applications for internal investigations and for collaboration with third-party contractors. Advises and provides oversight when dealing with third parties.
* Collaborates with the firmware, thermal, electrical, optical, and mechanical engineers as the electrical hardware is being designed to a product definition.
* Incorporates into the electrical designs, considerations for data and messaging, thermal and optical requirements, and/or mechanical specifications of a known industry challenge, safety concerns, or fleet operational in-efficiencies.
* Develops project statements for a technology definition for a specific application that would involve a device revision or a new application technology. May need to work with program/project manager for clear technology definition of the application.
* Works with the specific project manager to determine the available technology matrix and match the application and technology for most cost-effective solution(s).
* Presents 'proof of concepts' designs to the team that demonstrates a technology for a given problem definition. Concepts will carry a concept DFMEA identifying the potential failure modes.
* Develops an alpha and beta testing plan for the device hardware.
* Construct a stress testing plan for the electrical hardware during the validation testing in the form of a DVP&R.
* System-level integration experience.
* Design for manufacturing appropriate hardware.
* Experience reading electrical schematics.
* Experience with RTOS/Linux
* Microcontroller at an embedded level programing. Familiarity with C, C++, Python but not required.
* Experience with hardware lab equipment such as oscilloscope digital scope and logic analyzer.
