Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III The Industrial Electrical Technical Designer III will oversee all aspects of electrical engineering for multi-discipline industrial process design projects, ranging from small to large scope. Projects include facilities that process minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals. Key Responsibilities Electrical Engineering Design: Perform power distribution design as a Senior or Lead Engineer, including conceptual studies, design analyses, calculations, equipment selection, and system layout for industrial processes and site electrical utilities. Professional Organizations: Active participation in IEEE, IES, or other related professional organizations is desirable. Job Description The Senior Electrical Engineer will work with Oglethorpe Power's project management team to oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction of a new 1,500 MW combined cycle facility in Forsyth, Georgia. This will include reviewing design drawings, equipment, and system specifications, as well as work packages, installation plans, and delivery schedules for electrical equipment. EDUCATION & YEARS OF EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of six (6) years of combined experience in electrical design and construction Professional Engineer (PE) license Healthcare construction or VA facility experience is a plus PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS Experience serving as a Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Owner's Representative on projects of similar scale and complexity Demonstrated ability to understand and apply local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements Proficiency in interpreting and applying Building Codes, permitting processes, life safety regulations, and construction best practices Skilled in reviewing and providing professional recommendations on scopes of work, submittals, RFIs, and change orders Ability to monitor contractor performance, validate work quality, and ensure compliance with contract specifications and design documents Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, HVAC controls, emergency power, and low-voltage systems (fire alarm, telecom, etc.) Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure design intent and constructability Competence in project phasing, scheduling, construction logistics, and resource planning Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations, Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA), and safety protocols in healthcare environments Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IBC, and VA design standards for regulatory compliance Effective in managing project budgets, pay applications, cost tracking, and contract modifications Proficient in construction management software systems and general office applications Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with VA staff, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams SteerBridge Strategies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. Supports engineering efforts that provide engineering and technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for less complex engineering or environmental issues. Participates in efforts that develop recommendations and advice. Performs engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications. Responsible for the technical/engineering aspects of specific tasks of lesser complexity and importance than those typically assigned to a higher-level engineer.
