What a typical day looks like:
Work on a variety of products ranging from home health wearables to next generation therapy systems to surgical robotics.
Collaborate with industrial design, user interface, human factors, software, and mechanical teams to help produce successful product designs.
Participate in multidisciplinary brainstorming sessions, conceptualize, investigate, and develop innovative product architectures, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies.
Create and support design solutions using CAD, analysis software, and lab equipment.
Procure, assemble, and test breadboards and prototypes to inform and refine designs as well as measure and demonstrate design performance.
Communicate design value, tradeoffs, and recommendations to internal teams and clients.
Develop a personal portfolio of work that is accomplished during the Co-Op assignment.
Student qualities we're seeking for this internship assignment:
Electrical/ & Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology or related major
Hands-on electromechanical skills - wiring, soldering, troubleshooting
Fundamental understanding of electronics and physics, basic circuit design skills, ability to read and understand a schematic, electrical build experience, ability to carry out laboratory experiments, document and communicate results.
Highly collaborative team attitude, passion to learn, contribute, and take on challenges
Previous co-op or internship experience highly preferred
Basic programming skills and ability to create a schematic and simple PCB layouts - a plus!

OVERVIEW
The Electrical Design Engineer is experienced in the design of electrical and fire systems for the commercial real estate development industry. In this role, you will work with a team of engineers designing electrical and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-unit residential facilities.
The salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location, and certifications/licensure.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Applies technical knowledge to design solutions for complex and unique problems.
* Electrical system design for distribution, power, fire alarm, and lighting for commercial and residential projects.
* Manages multiple projects.
* Uses many different equations, applications, and figures to ensure the proper procedure application, including electrical load and short circuit calculations
* Perform existing conditions as-built documentation.
* Coordinate with mechanical and plumbing engineers on projects.
* Perform system evaluation and report generation.
* Review submittals and perform final inspections on installations.
* Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
* Understands and applies the National Electrical Code, NFPA 72, and MA State Building and Energy codes.
* Coordination with other engineering team members.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, and CERTIFICATIONS:
* B.S. Electrical Engineering degree or higher.
* P.E. Preferred but not required (must be able to obtain).

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with 2+ years' experience.
A strong background in circuit analysis using Electrical Engineering principles.
Direct design experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation tools in current use at the company.

Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer I is responsible for developing and implementing simple to moderately complex new product designs and improving legacy products as assigned.
