**Job Description**
The Integrated Circuit Design group at Teledyne FLIR develops the image sensors for use in a wide range of applications. Infrared image sensors designed here are used in high volume cell phone and automotive cameras to high-end performance systems for security and search and track applications. This wide range of applications and the demands for image performance leads to an ever changing and demanding set of design specifications that will keep you challenged and always looking for new and better ways to implement circuits. As Teledyne FLIR is vertically integrated, our group is involved in early system trades as well as support for camera integration and production.
You will be tasked take the lead in the design and analysis of the entire chip. This includes designing the circuitry of the signal path (detector interface, amplifiers, sampling, ADCs) and support circuitry (such as biases and PLLs) from transistor level simulations to system level analysis. This also means working with digital and layout engineers to ensure the entire chip works as intended the first time.
Our design teams of 3 to 5 engineers on an image sensor are small, so each engineer is responsible for the design trades and implementation of a large portion of the overall chip. While completing system level trades as well as working on the individual blocks of a design is challenging, it also results in a great sense of accomplishment when the image sensors are completed and integrated into cameras. SUMMARY
Lead the development of new mechanical designs, drive product improvements, and maintain existing products for our 3D visualization and guidance systems for microsurgery, working closely with electrical, optical, software and system engineers as well as product managers. The Staff Hardware Engineer will interface with internal and external teams to deliver complex designs such as high-magnification optical cameras, robotic assisted positioning systems, and active/passive thermal management systems.
In addition to design and development, the Staff Hardware Engineer will work with a multidisciplinary marketing and engineering team to turn marketing requirements into actionable engineering requirements. They will interface with internal teams, e.g. Software, Quality, Procurement, Production, and external teams, e.g. suppliers, outsourced Industrial Designers. The successful candidate will also be involved in the transfer of products from development to manufacturing including workflow development, production equipment design and throughput optimization. The Staff Hardware Engineer will also mentor junior staff, providing guidance resulting in the team as a whole generating great designs, with a solid design history trail, design documentation, and verification records. SALARY AND PAY TRANSPARENCY
Salary range for this position is between $160,000 and $180,000. Our engineers have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary partners, coordinate with diverse engineering teams and ensure project success. A typical day may include developing design studies, preparing engineering calculations & analysis, attending project meetings, performing a walkdown, or mentoring junior employees. Qualifications
This position covers a range of internal levels. Minimum qualifications for our mid-level position are shown below:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent work and training in a related role
Typically 3 years of experience with design of electrical systems
Experience in one of the following industries highly preferred: engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial including chemical or pulp & paper, energy, and government (DOE) projects
Writing, presentation and communication skills
Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
Proficient in Word and Excel

JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the coordination and completion of projects. They ensure effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and other project participants. Create design proposals, including presentations, and objectively demonstrate the benefits and rationale behind proposed designs. This may include presentations to a variety to groups including other disciplines, and customers
Prepare drawings, reports and other engineering data required for production, testing and qualification of designed equipment
Provide technical support to supply chain to address vendor inquiries
Act as shop liaison during initial production units to solve engineering problems encountered in production and support production personal with manufacturing electrical design
Monitor project tracking status to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely

Support designing circuits for power supplies.
Test and troubleshoot existing designs.
Support product improvement through the analysis of existing products and the incorporation of design improvements.
Incorporate product changes originating from changes in customer specifications, changes in components or manufacturing requirements, and to address obsolescence issues.
Determine the testing protocol for design and prototype validation as well as final product acceptance testing.
Assist developing product performance and compliance testing. Support product realization. Participate in design reviews, scheduling meetings and other engineering work groups as needed.
Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
As the Company's success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled.

Education and Experience
Interest in power electronics.
1 year of Experience with electrical engineering lab equipment and test equipment preferred.
Pursuing degree in Electrical Engineering.
Ability to read an electrical schematic.
Salary: $21.00 Hourly
