The position is also responsible for implementing new designs and upgrades to electrical systems. The Engineer will manage multiple projects often from conception thru commissioning and close-out. Projects include capacity, process and reliability improvements for areas throughout the facility. The Electrical Project Engineer's essential functions include: * Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams to develop project scope and requirements * Develop and manage project scope, resourcing plan, budget, and schedule * Prepare capital authorizations * Develop specifications and evaluate technical engineering and equipment bid packages * Administer engineering, equipment purchase, and installation contracts * Coordinate and manage installations and outages * Track and report project performance, schedule, and cost compliance * Review design packages and drawings for compliance with contract documents and Kaiser standards * Coordinate with internal Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and Engineering resources to achieve project objectives * Participate in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications * Assist in trouble-shooting equipment control and electrical systems * Support electrical safety initiatives and Kaiser's electrical standards * Comply with all Safety, Quality, and Environmental Regulations. EDUCATION An undergraduate degree in BSEE or BSET is required. EXPERIENCE This individual will possess: * Minimum of 5 years previous electrical engineering experience * Demonstrated experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment * Experience with functional and performance-based specification development * Familiarity with electrical and control system design including key documents such as schematics diagrams, single lines, P&ID and control narratives * Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems, AC/DC motors and drive systems and National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E * Knowledge of control system theory, instrumentation, PLC based control systems and safety systems * Excellent analytical skills including knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) * Strong Word, Excel, MS Project skills * Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills * Proven ability to work in teams * Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES * Autonomous and self-starter * Highly organized, systematic, and precise * Ability to work in a multicultural environment * Ability to work effectively with operators, maintenance technicians, other engineers and managers * Analytical understanding and critical thinking are of primary importance * Energetic, disciplined and focused on a team building organization. * Willing to work occasional flexible hours to support 24 x 7 manufacturing operations PERFORMANCE FACTORS * Attendance and Dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work.
