Develops Analytical Gas generation equipment and filtration systems that are used in laboratories, food processing, Oil and Gas industry and manufacturing facilities. As a member of new product development team, uses latest technology and solutions to exceed customer expectations.

• Member of new product development team working on innovative new product designs. • Participates in New Product Blueprinting (NPB) and Voice of the Customer (VoC) interviews. • Creates designs, selects components based on design needs, reliability, regulatory requirements, cost. • Develops prototypes based on provided specifications. • Documents and presents testing results and project progress to the management team. • Fine tunes prototype designs until they are ready for production. • Develops product specifications; works with manufacturing engineer on developing assembly methods, • Works with regulatory engineer on achieving required regulatory compliance. • Analyzes existing products, identifies areas for improvement, updates the product design and relevant documentation. • Maintains current level of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and/or participating in professional associations. • Effectively communicates status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision. • Actively supports other departments: manufacturing, supply chain, quality control, tech support, marketing, sales, service, etc.

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Software or Systems Engineering • 2-3+ years of New Product Development experience. • Prior experience working with electro-mechanical systems (PCBs, wiring harnesses, VFD, motors, pumps, sensors, touch screens, UI/UX etc) is highly desired. We Value • Strong knowledge of PLC and experience in Machine or Equipment Control. • Excellent computer literacy and ability to develop software. • Knowledge of IoT and applications • Excellent creativity and problem-solving skills. • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools building prototypes • Practical experience with the key technologies used for developing embedded or mobile devices • C++ programming and exposure to Qt/QML. • Application of basic engineering techniques to optimize design of products, parts, systems • Clear and concise communications • Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols. • Ability to work with general objectives regarding projects and team goals.

If you are an experienced Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow in process control and automation, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our St. Louis or Kansas City locations, you will execute automation migration projects by evaluating customer legacy control systems, designing a modern replacement DeltaV control system and hardware infrastructure. The candidate will work with customers, other engineers, and project managers at Emerson.
AS AN INTERMEDIATE E&I ENGINEER/TECHNOLOGIST, YOU WILL:
• Provide technical responsibility for system hardware design for upgrade and new control system projects
• Responsible as technical lead coordinating work with other project disciplines, project management and customer representatives for projects
• Estimate hardware design and implementation efforts for proposals
• Manage scope and meet project schedules
• Leads development of hardware architecture for DeltaV control systems including: System hardware designs, network architectures, control panel layouts, loop / schematic designs, cable routing and schedules, instrument evaluations and location drawings, instrument index/IO lists, and P&ID development.
• Plan and executes hardware factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, commissioning, and start-up or hot cutover of control systems and field instrumentation at customer plant sites

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• 4-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering or 2-year degree/diploma in a technical discipline
• 3-6 years' experience with bachelor degree or 4-7 years' experience with 2-year degree
• Experience in industrial plant control system design, testing and startup
• Experience in Distributed Controls Systems or PLC design and electrical design for projects
• Must convey a professional image with and build relationships with customers
• Must be comfortable in plant sites, and possess the ability to navigate staircases, ladders, scaffolding, and catwalks
• Must be willing to travel to end user locations and up to 15-25% of the year.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Experience in DeltaV Distributed Controls Systems
• Familiarization with applicable industry codes and processes
• Experience leading small to medium sized project teams
• Experience in producing Electrical Engineering Design deliverables

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 3 years of work experience in consumer electronics/embedded systems design.

+ Experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support. Experience with electrical engineering fundamentals (i.e. designing digital and/or analog systems).

+ Ability to travel internationally 20% of time.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.

+ Experience with design of cell phone baseband, embedded systems, processor architecture, various communication protocols (especially USB C, SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI, DSI), Python scripting, C++, and Cadence/Allegro.

+ Comfort in a lab environment and want to be in the details (soldering, oscilloscopes, data acquisition) with an enthusiasm for engineering.

+ Perform product feasibility studies including printed circuit board component area placement and circuit implementation and routing studies.

+ Contribute to the electrical design and validation of Google's future hardware phone products. Focus on digital interfaces (USB C, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, and various MIPI standards), ASIC, and memory.

+ Perform electrical engineering tasks related to sub-system designs including schematic capture and circuit signal integrity simulation. Work with PCB/Flex CAD team on proper layout and routing.

+ Create designs on multiple mediums: rigid multi-layer HDI PCB, multi-layer FPC, hybrid rigid/FPC assemblies. Work with the validation team on circuit verification and review verification data.

+ Bring design to mass production by reviewing factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, and work with manufacturer to ensure successful build. Debug/resolve any functional or parametric issues.
