In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team leading and executing the electrical power components of industrial, commercial, food and beverage facility, and government projects. Your Impact The position involves creating and issuing construction drawings and specifications, bills of material, construction cost estimates, power system studies and reports. Well qualified candidates will demonstrate willingness to learn low and medium voltage facility electrical power distribution, grounding, lightning and surge protection, lighting, protective relaying, prime and standby generation, low and medium voltage motor control centers and switchgear, medium voltage substations, mission-critical power systems, and UPS systems. The ability to learn, reference, and adhere to the NEC, NFPA documents, ICC documents, energy codes, and applicable IEEE standards will be a daily skill to be developed within the role. The ideal candidate will also have to show aptitude with modeling electrical systems and running power system studies using ETAP, PTW, or EasyPower. Collaboration with team members, excellent communication and presentation skills, personal motivation, a positive attitude, and the ability to work on multiple projects under project leads concurrently are key attributes. An ability to aid design leads in creating accurate estimates of engineering effort and drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints is needed. The applicant will interface directly with internal and external clients and some travel to vendor and client sites will be required, on the US Mainland, and abroad. Position Responsibilities*** Perform various studies including short-circuit, load-flow, coordination, grounding, lightning protection, and others as require Perform power system studies utilizing one or more power systems analysis software packages Produce protective relay settings and setting files utilizing relay vendor software Apply NERC-PRC standards to relay coordination and produce applicable compliance reports Develop protection schemes for substations & industrial installations Coordinate with other substation design disciplines (i.e., P&C design teams) Maintain a working knowledge of processes and issues affecting productivity and quality of contract documents and reports Act as Engineer-in-responsible-charge, including making technical decisions in their respective field, reviewing, stamping, and signing construction documents Develop positive external and internal client relationships and participate in project interviews for firm-wide projects Conduct project closeout and quality measurement investigation Working at Cushing Terrell Cushing Terrell is a multidisciplinary design firm with 17 offices and more than 500 team members who bring together their expertise to deliver holistic built environments.
