Position Summary
The Water Systems/Renewable Energy/Engineering team at North Platte has responsibilities that support safely monitoring, maintaining, and operating the FERC regulated Sutherland Project. The project includes reservoirs, cooling water and generation canals for Gerald Gentleman Station and the North Platte Hydro. This includes dams, embankments, diversion structures and other hydraulic control structures. There are also irrigation canals and laterals further downstream that include similar structures. Additionally, this team supports generation at the North Platte Hydro, Kearney Hydro, Canaday Station, and the Ainsworth Wind Generation facility. This position will support all areas mentioned above and have a strong focus on large projects that are identified in the long-range plan. Working with consultant engineers, developing project designs and plans, project management, construction management, and troubleshooting are also required functions of this position.
Education, Training and Experience
Engineer Level I & II: Bachelor of science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university or college or Professional Engineering license obtained by accredited examination. Entry level position with assignments designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills. Second level position with assignments designed to develop competent technical knowledge within an engineering discipline, develop customer relations skills, and introduce project management skills.
Engineer Level III: Bachelor of science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university or college or Professional Engineering license obtained by accredited examination. A fully competent engineer in conventional aspects within the specific discipline with expertise in specific areas of past assignments. Assignments designed to expand the areas of expertise within the discipline, develop project management skills, and develop a general knowledge of other disciplines.
Engineer Level IV: Bachelor of science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited university or college and Professional Engineering license obtained by accredited examination preferred. A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience required.

Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Engineer Level I - Exempt Pay Grade 12: $6,638-$8,384 monthly
Engineer Level II - Exempt Pay Grade 13: $7,445-$9,404 monthly
Engineer Level III - Exempt Pay Grade 14: $8,466-$10,904 monthly
Engineer Level IV - Exempt Pay Grade 15: $9,715-$12,512 monthly

Role Responsibilities
* Maintain and modify electrical and mechanical systems within a GMP production environment.
* Perform complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of automated packaging, manufacturing and material handling equipment within a GMP working environment. Disassemble equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Repair and replace broken and malfunctioning components.
* Maintain PC applications for control systems. PLC programming for material handling systems, production equipment and packaging equipment.
* Perform complex troubleshooting and repair of process measuring devices involved in ensuring weight, temperature, humidity, speed, volume, count, length, pH, and other factors. Execute calibration procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of GMP production equipment.
* Observe and test machinery and equipment. Analyse information obtained from operators to diagnose malfunctions and equipment problems. Troubleshoot and perform limited programming on electronic control systems.
* Research, write and revise technical documentation pertaining to production equipment.
* Provide technical assistance for investigations when equipment or system failure occurs, such as completing Root Cause Analysis.
* Document maintenance work following the ALCOA principles. Record repairs and maintenance performed. Record parts and materials used, and order new parts and materials as necessary.

* Demonstrated knowledge of safety compliance.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Root cause analyst knowledge.
* Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge (e.g. SAP).

The shift is 6:30am-3pm, Monday - Friday.
