Leads research, design, and development activities to improve NYPA's energy services. Designs, constructs, and tests equipment. Ensures that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Provide technical expertise and direction for all equipment and control systems, related to electrical systems utilized in the generation and transmission of electric power and/or Customer electrical systems (low voltage, high voltage, and fire alarm). Develop design solutions for electrical and control systems in all generating facilities, transmission, substations, and/or Customer sites. Ensures that standards of quality, safety, reliability, adherence to schedule and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Responsibilities
Review performance of engineers; establish work performance goals and review individual goals each appraisal period. Recommends staff additions, promotions, salary increases, and develop the schedules.
Ensure inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification and trouble shooting, or improvements are properly conducted.
Provide direction to and review the electrical design and drafting personnel in the development of the project drawings
Review and approve work produced by other engineers, including the designs and specifications ensuring complete, accurate and detailed modification packages, specifications, drawings and documentation.
Ensure staff produce clear, concise, complete and articulate reports which explain recommendations
Oversee prioritization of requests to ensure deadlines are met.
Ensure coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of the project.
Oversee inspections and evaluations on vendor products to ensure engineering requirements and Authority needs are satisfied.
Develop and retain subject matter expertise of NYPA's large power apparatus including generators, transformers and circuit breakers
Develop engineering model to support O&M issues at NYPA operating facilities (N/A for CPD Group).
Develop equipment specifications and design packages and provide technical oversight for all substation, transmission and generation systems. (N/A for CPD Group).

About the Role
Opentrons is looking for an experienced ElectricalEngineering Manager to lead the electrical team through the development of our next generation robots. This role includes both managing the team responsible for designing and manufacturing Opentrons robots, as well as taking direct technical ownership of key projects. What You Will Do
