As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible. **Your Impact** + Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. + Work under the guidance of experienced engineers on utility substation design projects. + Assist with detailed design tasks for low to extra-high-voltage substations, including: one-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation layout. + Perform design calculations per industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, etc.). + Support senior engineers with QA/QC design checks. + Assist design engineers with physical and protection/control design efforts for electric utility substations. + Complete training on assigned tasks. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. + Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. **Who You Are** **Required Qualifications** + Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of September 2026 or later. + Must be 18 or older. + Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering and the electric utility industry,or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects. + Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. + Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects. + Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship. **Preferred Qualifications** + Successful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection. + Prior internship and/or related engineering experience is a plus. + Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam will be strongly considered for this position. + Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.
