We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is focused on the design and development of rugged, high-performance electronics used in mission-critical defense applications with a strong emphasis on PCB layout and design. Experience or interest in RF circuit and antenna design is a significant plus.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of electronics design, with the ability to contribute across the full product developmentlifecycle-from concept and prototyping through production and sustainment.
Clearance:
An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in microelectronics design and development, with a strong emphasis on PCB layout and design.
Proficiency in tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar.
Solid foundation in analog/digital circuit theory and practical design.
Familiarity with lab testing tools (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, etc.).
Understanding of DFM/DFT/DFA best practices in a defense context.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with an attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, and RF circuitry for embedded systems.
Lead PCB layout and design for high-reliability, multi-layer boards, ensuring compliance with military standards (MIL-STD) and IPC class specifications.
Integrate a wide range of sensors (IMUs, GPS, environmental, etc.) and communication modules (LTE, UHF, SATCOM, etc.) into embedded and modular systems.
Develop and integrate RF front-ends and antennas for secure communications and sensor applications.
Perform schematic capture, BOM generation, layout, and detailed documentation for design reviews and production.
Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, systems, and test engineers to deliver ruggedized and SWaP-optimized solutions.
Conduct signal integrity analysis, power distribution verification, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) assessments.
Support environmental and compliance testing including EMI/EMC, shock, vibration, and thermal.
Maintain design documentation and contribute to configuration management and version control.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with RF circuit design, including filters, LNAs, mixers, and impedance-matched networks.
Knowledge of antenna design and integration for applications including GNSS, SATCOM, cellular, telemetry, etc.
Experience designing low power and ultra low power embedded devices
Hands-on experience with RF simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, or Keysight ADS.
Familiarity with military standards (MIL-STD) related to microelectronics
Background in embedded systems, microcontrollers, and interface protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
Experience in end-to-end lifecycle development for defense platforms.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred) Compensation:

What You'll Do Here
* Report to the project manager
* Work with planning on WO reviews and compliance with associated DC's
* Ensure field teams (32 IBEW Journeyman) have correct documentation or construction aids to perform work
* Technical oversight in the field to ensure quality is in accordance with station procedures or design
* Review of schedules and plans for correct tasks, durations and resources needed
* Make sure we have materials or tooling to perform upcoming activities AVR and Gen Relay upgrade at Surry currently in process.
* Conduct running and cable pulling of med to low voltage
* Panel wiring and replacement in the shop or field Emergency Switchgear Room
* Communicate with engineering team members and engineering manager to maintain the engineering scopes work breakdown structure.
* Communicates changes/updates from the engineering team to other project groups (i.e. scheduling, project controls, construction)
* Organizes meetings (internal or client) as required by the engineering team and develops meeting minutes.
* Reports on Action Items from engineering meetings for input to the Action Items register.
* Coordinates requests for information to vendors/client as identified by the engineering team
* Acta as project management and construction management support role
* Supports weld engineering, quality control, logistics, with site field activities
* Act as the site interface between the Clint and Aecon site management
