Project Engineer / Solutions Delivery (MSP)
Electrical engineer job in Houston, TX
Project Engineer / Solutions Delivery (MSP ) Houston, TX Hybrid - Local Candidates Only
Career Track: Senior Project Engineer → Solutions Architect → vCIO
We recently scaled past the typical MSP ceiling and are now entering a strategic expansion phase backed by experienced leadership from national-level managed service providers. Our focus is tight and intentional: secure hybrid infrastructure for SMB clients in architecture, engineering, and construction (typically 50-110 users).
This role was created because we are no longer operating like a reactive ticket MSP. The demand for planned, scoped, and fully executed modernization projects has grown faster than our internal delivery capacity and we want someone who thrives in the build, improve, standardize lane.
You'll sit in the middle of our technical operation: converting needs uncovered by vCIOs and account strategy into clear-defined scopes, technical plans, deployment steps, and clean handoffs.
You are the one who sees the entire project lifecycle and ensures it lands clean.
What You'll Actually Do
Lead technical scoping calls with SMB client stakeholders (not enterprise boards)
Evaluate existing environments and identify modernization paths
Draft SOWs, deployment plans, timelines, and resource requirements
Execute infrastructure upgrades: virtualization, hardware refresh, routing/switching, backup
Own hybrid environments with M365 + on-prem + light cloud extensions
Build out VPN, network segmentation, remote access best practice models
Partner closely with vCIO for strategy and TAM for operational follow-through
Ensure documentation, closeout procedures, and handoff to operations are polished
Ideal Experience Profile
3-6 years in an MSP environment required
Hands-on with M365 identity, tenant cleanup, conditional access
Comfortable with SMB virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware) and server refresh cycles
Solid networking fundamentals (switching, VLANs, VPN tunnels)
Can communicate clearly with non-technical end users and mid-market leadership
Enjoy modernization: structured rollouts, refresh plans, standardization
This is project ownership, technical planning, and predictable delivery.
Why We are Different
We've crossed the phase where MSPs typically stall, we're scaling upward, not sideways
Senior leadership investment is long-term (security maturity, automation, compliance)
We scope before we assign and you won't wake up to mystery Friday cutovers
Security-first approach vs. “keep the lights on” MSP model
Compensation & Benefits
$115K - $130K
401(k) with match
Medical, dental, vision
HSA options
Life insurance
Paid time off
Professional development + certification investment
