The Director of Electrical Engineering directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for engineering of electrical aspects of our product line to ensure functionality, quality, cost and schedule by performing the following duties.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Works with various departments investigating material suitability, integrating new products, modifying existing designs, improving production techniques, and developing test procedures.

Advises management and resolves problems with new processes and technology which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.

Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
Assists with maintaining scheduling and budgeting for the assigned engineering projects.

Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

Coordinates/Facilitates R & D activities from planning to implementation for engineering design and test, fabrication procedures, new material or technical developments, resolving problems such as strength, weight, and costs ensuring attainment of design objectives and standards.

Advises on design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Reviews product failure data and interprets analyses to establish or rule out material and process causes.

**Job Purpose**

You will lead the activation of the company's Future of Electric strategy via developing strategic plans and roadmaps to ensure that the right processes, activities, and capabilities are pursued. You will work closely with Strategy & External Affairs teams generating corporate, regulatory, policy and external influence strategies and with teams across Customer, Electric Operations, etc. to solicit input and ensure alignment and execution against Future of Electric strategic plans/roadmaps.

**Key Accountabilities**

+ Develop holistic thought leadership for future of electric that integrates strategy, policy, strategy execution priorities and activities, and 'net zero' plan

+ Create roadmap(s) for strategy execution and drive alignment and accountability across teams responsible for execution (e.g., new initiatives, RD&D, and investment planning)

+ Develop and manage governance process for roadmap execution

+ Identify innovation opportunities to deliver future of electric strategy

+ Articulate holistic external view of future of electric transformation of National Grid New York

+ Lead industry engagement on 'future of electric' strategy activation

+ Set policy/regulatory priorities needed for strategy activation

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelors degree required; Master's or advanced degree preferred

+ 7+ years of relevant work experience

+ Demonstrated 'thought leadership' on decarbonization pathways, clean energy policies, demand-side management, electrification, and/or innovative regulatory frameworks

1. Role and Scope of Position:

This position is responsible for the management and operation of the Eversource sub-transmission, network and distribution electric systems. This position is accountable for the overall management of the electric system security, dispatching and switching activities and coordinating all work performed on the Eversource electric systems. This position has overall responsibility for managing and restoring all electric system events with an emphasis on customer restoration.

This position reports to the VP of Electric System Operations. This position will drive continual improvements to our reliability performance and Eversource customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
Oversees monitoring of system conditions and loading, safety clearance support, event notification, and reporting and coordination of activities in support of the operations and restoration processes.Responsible for Eversource's Control Center IT applications such as OMS, SCADA along with other electric system IT business applications in collaboration with Eversource Information Services (NIS), and other stakeholders.Maintains contact with Federal and State officials to assure coordination of Eversource efforts with external emergency management organizations.Oversees the completion of PURA inquires and testimony related to Eversource Operations.Identifies, develops and implements best practices, processes and procedures to achieve efficient and effective electric system operations and dispatch.Manages communications with executives, customers, communities and other stakeholders regarding system conditions, restoration activities and other Company emergency conditions.Oversees retention and development of dispatch staff.
