Our client is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer/Project Manager to join the team in their Fort Lauderdale office!


Requirements:


The Project Engineer shall maintain a Professional Engineer license in the State of Florida 8+ years’ experience working in an MEP Design/Consulting environment Experience using AutoCAD (Revit is +). Successful applicant must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship Experience in designing Commercial (Restaurants, Retails, Offices, Educational and Mixed-Use Projects), Single Family & Multi-Story High-End Residential Buildings.



Responsibilities:


Engineering design and drafting of the Electrical Systems for new construction, additions, renovations, system upgrades and remodels for a variety of project types including Commercial/offices; Restaurants; Retails; Hotels; Medical Facilities; Banking; High-end private Residences, Multi-Family homes and other. To perform electrical load calculations; electrical risers; short circuit calculations; voltage drop calculations, lighting power density, sizing and specifying electrical equipment, etc. Interior & exterior lighting layouts, fixture specifications and calculations; Photometrics Utility coordination Life Safety / Fire alarm system design layout Low voltage system layouts including data, communications, sound, lv lighting controls Energy code analysis Responsible for the complete performance of construction administration tasks for processing shop drawings, RFI' s, Value-engineering requests; Change orders as required by the project. Actively engaging with other disciplines within the MEP team for project coordination. Perform site surveys to obtain necessary information of the existing conditions; site inspections as needed to determine compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues during the construction phase. Willingness and desire to mentor junior/staff electrical engineer Managing day-to-day operational aspects of project scope and timeline. Following up with clients on inquiries/requests and consistently responding in a timely fashion. Ensuring effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants including project teams, colleagues, clients, architects, developers, and contractors to successfully execute projects.

To enable continued growth, Michael Baker's Baltimore Practice seeks an Electrical Engineering Project Manager to join our team. This growing group of building engineers, planners and architects believes that the beauty of a project resides both in performance and aesthetics - "success" to us is measured by functionality, value, and exceeding clients' expectations to "Make a Difference." The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer with responsibilities including design and documentation for a broad range of project types. With a current focus on growing opportunities including Transportation, State and Municipal, Aviation, Federal, and Industrial, they will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and building systems engineers. They must demonstrate organizational skills, and ability to work in a team environment, and an advanced understanding of construction documents and constructability.

• Provide electrical designs at a level of competence of being in responsible charge of the design; stamp and seal documents; field technical questions; peer review electrical designs
• Play an integral part in the preparation of proposals, qualifications submittals, and interview presentations
• Schedule and facilitate or participate in kick-off meetings
• Train and oversee the work of less experienced electrical engineers, designers, and CAD technicians
• Establish and meet timelines and deadlines, prepare construction documents and reports, coordinate with sub-consultants, coordinate final production, and delivery of electrical designs

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years of related experience
• Licensed Professional Engineer
• Effective visual / verbal communication skills
• Possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design & engineering disciplines, clients, and constructors
• Engineering software experience (AutoCad 3D, Visual, AGI32)
• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (Revit/BIM)
• Knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Teams, and Sharepoint

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $89,067 - $204,096. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.

General Responsibilities:
Electrical Engineers are willing and able to visit client facilities and discuss problems. They also have the ability to develop subsequent solutions, then write and effectively communicate scopes of work and/or proposals. This is huge - we need people with technical skills that can think on their feet, recognize a client need and offer help. Senior Electrical Engineers need to be able to develop work scopes independently with limited supervision or guidance. Typically, in order to do this, a candidate for this position will need experience in manufacturing to understand the various roles: production, maintenance, planning, HS&E, and engineering in order to know where, within a facility, the information necessary to develop a solution can be found.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing electrical engineering duties on assigned projects including power distribution, machine control design, instrument and control design, and programming (PLC, PC, MMI, etc.)
Develop bids, proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, estimates, schedules, material lists, specifications, theories of operation, programming documentation, design concepts, design drawings and other project documentation per customer and corporate guidelines
Perform field work and technical research
Perform technical studies and calculations
Perform programming and system commissioning

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Heavy industrial experience
BSEE or BSEET
Plant experience in an Engineering, Engineering Support or Maintenance Tech Support role
Project Management and Design leadership experience from concept, documentation development, standards definitions through checking, submittals, construction, startup, commissioning, handover and long-term support
Capital project development experience - understanding of justifications and risks
Project estimating experience - development of required documentation, Engineering and Design hours estimates, construction materials and labor
Exercise innovative cost efficiency approaches in the project design to reduce construction costs and increase productivity.
Experience with industrial plant (Electrical, Power, Controls, Instrumentation, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 101) constructability reviews
Power System Engineering experience - 15kV and below
Specification of medium voltage equipment, such as, MCCs, power transformers, distribution panels, etc.
Experience with one-Line diagram development, analysis, load studies
Understanding of Arc Flash and System Coordination
Experience with SKM or ETAP software is preferred
Electrical Classification (NFPA 70/Article 500) understanding and application experience
Reading and updating P&IDs
Experience evaluating controls and instrumentation integrations
PLC and/or DCS Hardware Conversion experience (experience with multiple platforms is preferred)
System integration experience: Controls and Signals - additions and new equipment tie-ins
Instrumentation - basic understanding of process measurements and signaling
Instrumentation - experience and proven expertise toward developing specification and selections based upon process conditions and needs
Experience with power System Controls/Relaying
Design experience of electrical and control schematics
Working knowledge of NEC, BOCA and other codes related to design

Preferred Requirements:
PE Registration
Experience with SKM or ETAP software
Experience in an industrial chemical processing environment
