Responsibilities * Perform electrical design and coordination tasks focusing on power distribution, lighting systems, communication systems, fire alarm systems, and control systems. * Utilize CAD software (Autodesk and Bentley products) for electrical system design and documentation. * Establish design criteria and perform design calculations. * Develop electrical design documents, including one-line diagrams, control schematics, electrical plans, and specifications. * Provide engineering services during construction, review equipment submittals and shop drawings, and respond to contractor RFIs (Requests for Information). * Conduct field inspections to identify deviations from design and ensure safety compliance during construction. * Perform electrical system analysis using tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, and other power systems analysis software. * Travel as required to meet project needs, not to exceed 25%. Essential Skills * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, a related discipline or equivalent work experience. * Minimum of 5 (ideally 7-10) years of relevant experience. * EIT or Professional Engineer (PE). * Experience in wastewater industry preferred but not required. * Proficiency in electrical distribution, power distribution, and lighting design. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience in the oil & gas, industrial, or manufacturing industry is considered. * Knowledge of fire systems and CAD software. * Familiarity with ETAP and electrical design in industrial settings. Work Environment Candidates preferred in Columbus, with consideration for Akron, Toledo, Detroit, and Cleveland. The role offers a hybrid work environment with 2-3 days in the office. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Role Accountabilities: As an Electrical Engineer supporting our Resilience Water team, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of electrical systems for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects. Your work will span the full project lifecycle-from concept development through construction and startup-supporting critical systems such as power distribution, lighting, communications, security, fire detection, and control and monitoring systems. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, innovative, and sustainable solutions that enhance system reliability and community resilience. Key responsibilities: Collaborate with process, mechanical, and instrumentation and control (I&C) engineers to develop electrical design criteria, single-line diagrams, control schematics, and technical documentation. Design low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems in alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes. Perform power system studies and analyses using tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar software. Support project managers with scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating throughout the project lifecycle. Manage assigned project budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables to ensure quality and timely execution. Participate in client meetings, site visits, and other project-related travel as needed. Key Skills & Experience: Successful candidates will bring a solid foundation in industrial electrical design and power distribution, including experience with motor control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting systems, and equipment layout. You will demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
