Duties And Responsibilities: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems for production machinery, conveyors, motors, and control panels. Diagnose and repair electrical issues on automated equipment, including PLCs, VFDs, and motor control circuits. Install and maintain wiring, conduit, circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components in compliance with NEC and OSHA standards. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals to plan and execute repairs. Test electrical systems using meters and diagnostic tools to ensure proper functionality and safety. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report findings to supervisors. Purpose of Position This position is a multi-faceted Electrician for solar photovoltaic (PV) installations. The Licensed Electrician must be a mechanically minded individual to work in the field installing residential and commercial grid-tied PV systems and batteries. The Licensed Electrician will report to the Director of Construction and work side by side with the Master Electrician and other crew members to install all photovoltaic system components, while completing the installation of a fully functional PV system. The Licensed Electrician will also support associates within the apprentice program through hands on coaching and committee work. The overall goal is to work with field personnel to achieve completion of the project with the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, education and conformance to the original plans and NEC specifications. Major Responsibilities of Position This position is a multi-skill level position to allow for development in the position. Electricians will be evaluated and compensated based on their ability to accomplish each skill in the levels below. The skill level builds on the individual's skill level, therefore additional tasks are added as the skill develops. An employee can “level up”, that is, test for the next level every 90 days until they reach the top of the scale. Skill Level 1 Connect solar panels, inverters, and other high-voltage equipment to a building's power supply. Assemble, install, test, and maintain PV related electrical wiring, breakers, and equipment. Test PV electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, and equipment based on job specifications and local codes. Install underground cabling, single and multiple conduit runs in an effective and efficient manner. Machine Repair and Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) and corrective maintenance (CMs) on a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, automated inspection systems, and process equipment. Electronics Troubleshooting and Repair: Utilize in-depth knowledge of electronic principles to test, troubleshoot, and replace sensors, power supplies, and load cells, and proprietary control modules, often working at the component level to replace parts like capacitors, SCRs, and Diodes. PLC Programming and Interface: Interface with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)-specifically Allen-Bradley-for troubleshooting, minor program modifications, and I/O verification. Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and NFPA 70E standards regarding arc flash and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team. Installation and Upgrade Projects: Assist with the installation, modification, and commissioning of new equipment and electrical upgrades, ensuring all work meets local and national electrical codes. Documentation and Communication: Accurately document all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Communicate effectively with production staff and management regarding machine status and expected repair times. Qualifications and Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program or technical degree in Industrial Electricity/Electronics preferred. Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Certification/License: Journeyman Electrician license strongly preferred; Master Electrician license is a bonus. Technical Skills: Soft Skills: Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Comfortable working in industrial environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Ability to stand, walk, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash gear. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
