The Electrician is responsible for preventative maintenance, layout, installation, and repair of all electrical equipment and power and lighting systems in the facility including motors, generators, transformer controls and mechanisms, timing devices, switches, cable and conduits. This includes connections to electronic equipment or the installation and repair of any other electrical equipment. The Electrician will apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry. The Electrician will also assemble and test motor-controlled devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components; perform preventative and corrective maintenance and diagnose causes of electrical malfunction or failure of operational equipment. Tests continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components. Maintains emergency generators, lift stations and other electrical equipment and systems. Makes routine inspections of installed equipment and/or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Performs emergency service and preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment and systems. Operates and drives various truck mounted aerial lift devices. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders necessary for performing tasks above ground level. Operates a snow plow truck with underbody blade, front plow and salt spreader insert for winter maintenance. Required to participate in call rotation as assigned by the Electrical Supervisor. Required to participate in random drug and alcohol screens. Performs related duties as assigned.
