This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical wiring systems and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment in Federal industrial, institutional, and office buildings in the National Capital Region. Incumbent will Install, maintains, modifies, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs secondary power distribution and building electrical systems and related circuits and equipment. The ideal candidate will be experienced in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium to high voltage electrical distribution systems and related equipment. This role includes working with cathodic protection systems, power generators (gas and diesel), transformers, and airfield lighting systems. The electrician performs installation of electrical and systems construction elements of C3M projects. This role is primarily a Washington DC position, however traveling and interacting with multiple project teams across various locations throughout the U.S. is also available. Responsibilities * Perform electrical installations on Transportation and/or Industrial Construction projects * Provide input and coordinate with other trades on each project * Maintain safety and quality standards on all installations and tasks * Ensure code compliance by inspecting and testing electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards or needed repairs * Maintain positive personal contact and relationships with management, staff, craft and the local unions * Ensures that all activities are consistent with project plans, policies and procedures * Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems. * Prepares work area for installation of equipment. * Installs electrical components. * Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification. * Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating). * Sets up and operates tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems. * Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified. * Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans. * Secure and lock up equipment after use. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You'll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings. Your Work Environment: You'll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
