Facilities and Plant Maintenance Technician II Overall Summary of Job Preventative and routine maintenance of the primary and support equipment and facilities used to repair and manufacture products. Manage projects used for process improvement, development and shop support. Essential Functions Performs preventive maintenance on CNC and manual machining equipment ( lathes , mills and grinders ) , plunge and wire EDM , vacuum/atmosphere furnaces , thermal spray equipment and various other plant machinery and equipment. Performs electrical maintenance, repair work, and troubleshooting on equipment. Installs equipment for new electrical services (120v, 240v, and 480v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contactors, relays, times and controls for various plant machinery. Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment. Maintains records and logs, as needed. Guidance and direction will come from experienced maintenance Leads. Performs related duties as needed or assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school , Military or Technical School and three years of experience minimum in a variety of trades or construction work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, practices, tools, and equipment associated with electrical and production plant machinery. Considerable knowledge of and ability to use standard hand and power tools and equipment (used in maintenance activities). Considerable knowledge and application of safety standards and precautions pertaining to electrical work. Ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints. Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and operate hand and power tools in a safe, efficient manner. Considerable knowledge of electrical codes, practices, and techniques. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies: Essential KSAs: · High School Graduate or equivalent (GED). · Associates degree with a Technical focus and 5 years of related experience in specific industry; or, 7 years of experience in specific industry. · Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate. · Possesses working knowledge and experience regarding electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems in related fields. Can analyze the problems, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs · Extensive travel required. (Local, National). Desirable KSAs: · Experience in preventative maintenance techniques, precision measuring, mechanical alignments, and general maintenance of applicable process equipment. · Exposure to programmable logic controllers, field devices, and electrical drive and motor systems.
