What the Role Is The Electrical Controls Technician will serve as the expert in the development of manufacturing and material handling systems involving programming, machine controls, and troubleshooting with a specific focus on high quality products, employee involvement, continuous improvement and profitability.
The Electrical Controls Technician will work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams to support new and improved processes.
The Technician will provide support for distilling operations, bottling operations, and automated warehousing operations.
Position will predominately be scheduled to work first shift, but depending on organizational needs, coverage occasionally may be required for evening shifts and weekends.
How You Will Spend Your Time? Identify, develop, and implement electrical control systems and modifications for a wide variety of manufacturing production equipment.
This will include distillery operations, material handling systems, and bottling operations.

About the Role
The Automation Systems Electrician will be responsible for preparing and organizing machine wiring and panels from electrical schematics to supply all necessary power for machine builds. Essential Functions:
Safely and competently perform troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on a wide variety of equipment in a continuous operational environment.
The incumbent must be capable of troubleshooting PLC control circuits.
The incumbent must be capable of utilizing Studio5000 software as a tool in the troubleshooting process.
Analyzes and interprets one lines, wiring diagrams, sketches and drawings to select a logical approach to troubleshooting, tracing, and testing circuits to determining replacement or repair needs of equipment.
Regularly use electrical testing instruments, hand tools, and machinery to install, repair, connect, disconnect, and/or replace electrical systems and supporting infrastructure.
Performs electrical isolation of equipment for safety of self and others as part of isolation lock out tag out while minimizing interference to operations.
Inspect, repair, install, and wire all electrical devices and circuits 480V and below in the plant.
Work with all types and sizes of motors, transformers, circuit breakers, electronic controls, control panels, starters, VFD's, switches, lighting equipment, power distribution and control circuits, conduit and fittings, wire and cable, hardware, insulations, solder, repair and replacement parts, cables, insulators, conduit, etc.
Perform work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation, and application of equipment.
Be willing and interested in learning additional skills beyond traditional electrical skills to become a cross-functional Maintenance Tech.
Provide technical advice, quality control, problem solving, troubleshooting, and repair recommendations.
Understand consequences of equipment failure and repair errors. Participate in continuous improvement processes.
Operate trucks, forklifts, cranes, and elevated work platforms as required to facilitate work. Work in Maintenance shop and plant floor as required.
Inspect and keep tools and work area in clean and orderly condition.
Promote and demonstrate a positive work attitude and atmosphere.
Follow all NSG Safety procedures and policies.
Training Requirements:
Equipment specific training as new equipment is added to the process.
Lock Out/Tag Out
Fork Truck and Aerial Lifts
Hazardous Materials as required by Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies.
Education/Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or GED
Experience:
Journeyman card, certification and/or 5+ years of electrical trades maintenance work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities.
Team player with the ability to work collaboratively
Positive, high energy, and self-motivated.
Competencies:
The incumbent must be computer literate.
Understanding of shop mathematics with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments
Ability to demonstrate job duties as it relates to experience
Written and onsite hands-on assessment testing
Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lifting up to 50lbs.
Occasionally exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather
Ability to work at elevated workstations
Availability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work
Availability as needed to work on both a scheduled and call-out basis, and the ability to work at the assigned job site.
Willing to work shift work and assist in other areas of department or site as needed.
Job schedule/working hours are determined by crew assigned- unless modified by supervisor due to emergency needs.
Shift Crew: 12.25 hours, DAYS 6:15AM-6:30PM or NIGHTS 6:15PM-6:30AM, ROTATING 2-2-3 SCHEDULE

Basic Job Functions:
This position must help drive continuous improvements in production tracking, process efficiency and plant automation. This teammate must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Perform mechanical repairs to all shop equipment and tools as necessary
Use multi-meter to troubleshoot electrical problems
Work directly with production personnel to repair equipment
Read and understand electrical schematics and symbols and modify graphic drawings as needed
Complete work orders and preventative maintenance forms
Perform a daily walk through of assigned areas
Repair emergency problems with minimal downtime
Record every intervention for daily and future analysis which includes maintenance time consumed and materials issued from the storeroom
Perform necessary activities during PM days
Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and has mechanical knowledge with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Install, maintain, and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production process
Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems
Attend automation, robotics, and equipment supplier training

Minimum Qualifications:

The Electromechanical will Plan and perform a range of duties to maintain, service, and repair plant machinery, electrical, and facilities, including a normal range of gas and arc welding, flame cutting and fabrication operations.
Duties:
Interpret wiring diagrams, manufacturer's installation or service manuals, blueprints, product drawings, plant layouts, order flow and all commonly used documents in the facility
Install, maintain, and repair equipment and machines as necessary (such as automatic controls and control panels, power or lighting service lines) with necessary fixtures and components to ensure proper operation
Measure, cut, align, thread, and assemble pipe, conduit, PVC (and similar items) for gas, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, and water process systems
Test and inspect fire pumps and associated devices
Determine and trace cause of malfunctioning or improper equipment
Provide effective service repair and maintenance to electrical and mechanical equipment including rolling mills, furnaces, machine tools, and auxiliary equipment
Perform routine maintenance and service duties such as repair and maintain portable power equipment, pumps, compressors, air and hydraulic devices, and other apparatus
Change rolls in all types of rolling mills and record rotation procedure
Perform routine prescribed duties in lubricating plant machinery and equipment
Routinely use a variety of measuring devices including calipers, height gauge, micrometer, chamfer gauge, versa gauge, depth gauge, go/no go gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, protractor, and tape measure
Identify correct tooling needed to produce each component and change out tools as necessary and use standard tools including, but not limited to, deburring tools, power tools and hard tools (regarding preventative maintenance and/or quality issues)
Modify machine speed tooling and cutting style to ensure precision accuracy of parts.
Oversee process, adjust, and catch errors as they happen and correct as necessary.
Operate crane and forklift as needed
Experience:
High School Diploma/GED
Experience with quality measuring devices such as calipers, height gauge, micrometer, chamfer gauge, depth gauge, go/no go gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, protractor, and tape measures is preferred
