Responsibilities Coordinate and execute plans of electrical installations for many different electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, announcing, 115VAC/440VAC/24DVC electrical plant equipment, Uninterrupted Power Supply equipment, Audio/Video equipment, Antenna systems and many others Install electrical cabinets, fixtures, and equipment for various electrical systems Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.) Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks using various MIL-SPEC connectors Pull in cables of various lengths and sizes to accommodate system connections Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair/replace damaged equipment Install, tag and band copper cables on various classes of Navy surface vessels. Performing all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, onboard Navy vessels. Troubleshooting and testing of copper cables and circuits. Possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a shipboard or airframe electrician's trade with little supervision or guidance. Knowing how to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc. Knowing and understanding the use of all tools of their trade such as multi-meters, pin crimper's, soldering and expected to accomplish the more complex tasks associated with electrical installation of cable, military circular connectors, panel box and power terminations, etc. Familiar with basic computer skills Familiar with MS-Office programs including Word and Excel. Perform other duties as required which may include, but is not limited to, grinding, chipping, surface prep, and foundation installations Qualifications Must be a Marine Electrician with a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in ship repair onboard US Navy ships (technical education may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement) Must have experience and multi-pin copper connector certification of cables per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5) Familiarity with NAVY Standard Items preferred Ability to read, understand and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams. Individual must have a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus). Successful completion of Navy “A” School (“C” School is a plus) or successful completion of a Shipyard or commercial Electrical apprenticeship program (recognized shipyard apprentice graduates are a plus).
