Overview
Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on biomedical electronic equipment.
Responsibilities
* Services and repairs biomedical equipment (e.g., breast pumps, slit lights, high intensity exam lights, cast cutters, respirators, sphygmomanometers) and electronic equipment (e.g., temporary pacemaker units, controllers, IV pumps, electronic thermometers, etc.); notifies manufacturer if repair cannot be made and reports unusual problems to Associate Director of Biomed.
* Uses available test equipment to test functioning of medical equipment.
* Responds to repair and service calls at equipment location; services equipment on site if possible, removes equipment to the Biomedical shop for servicing/repair if necessary.
* Carries out regularly scheduled preventive maintenance work on all equipment for which technician is responsible according to schedule and in compliance with departmental policies and procedures for such work; documents preventive maintenance data as required by departmental policies and procedures.
* Assists in monitoring parts inventory levels by recording parts used for the equipment being serviced; notifies supervisor when stock of spare parts is approaching minimum levels.
* Recommends purchase of biomedical equipment.
* Maintains department records, reports, and files as required, including maintaining accurate records of inventory, repairs, equipment down time.
* Repairs non-biomedical equipment or systems as assigned.
* Instructs hospital personnel as to proper use and safe handling of equipment.

Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree in Electronics preferred. Bachelor's degree with credits in Biomedical Engineering preferred.

Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Possess a valid validelectrician certification.
Possess a valid driverslicense with a clean driving record.
Ideally, youll also have:
Five years of experience inthe maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and related equipment, orindustrial setting with experience performing the following:
Five years of electricalexperience troubleshooting and repairing: motors, pump controls, VFDs, motoroperated valves, calibrating flow meters, lighting systems and other equipmentrelated to wastewater treatment or similar industrial setting.
Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Bend/install conduit to complywith NEC code.
IR Thermography (basicknowledge) certification is not a requirement but may be asked to try andattain certification.
Properly size wire to complywith NEC code.
Motor / pulley alignment
Troubleshooting a variety ofelectrical and mechanical equipment on site.
Ability to prioritize theworkload.
Troubleshoot VFD, VFDcontrols, motor windings, lighting systems etc.
Proficient in use ofmultimeters, meggers, loop calibrators and other diagnostic equipment.
Intermediate knowledge of SCADA controls.
Possess a valid driverslicense with no major infractions.
Knowledge of the methods,materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair andcalibration of electrical and electronic control systems.
Familiarity with theprinciples and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations and processcontrol.
Knowledge of the methods,materials, equipment and instruments used in the maintenance, troubleshooting,repair, and calibration of electrical and electronic control systems including distributed Control Systems (DCS); Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) or PCbased controls; Graphics human machine interface (HMI) or similar IO devices;Instrumentation communication networks (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet,Profibus) or similar; Servers, drives, actuators, variable frequency drives(VFDs), valves, etc.

Based in Hoboken, New Jersey at the North Hudson SewerageAuthority, youll have the opportunity to lead a variety of tasks in thepreventive and corrective maintenance on wastewater treatment plants andrelated facilities equipment on an assigned shift. Youll contribute to thesuccess of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effectivesolutions to challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. Youll performpredictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures,grounds, machinery, and lighting equipment; lubricate equipment and check formalfunctions; troubleshoot all electrical systems and subsystems, must know howto properly examine equipment failures to identify root cause and to preventrecurrences; plans and installs new equipment upgrades. Comply with all Healthand Safety Practices and Procedures. Most importantly, youlltake actiontoensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in planning,scheduling the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of specializedmechanical and electrical equipment in a safe manner.
Reads, interprets, and worksfrom blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and mechanicalillustrations.
Performs skilled electricalrepair work on water/wastewater treatment plant equipment and relatedequipment.
Analyzes equipment failures todetermine cause and to prevent recurrences.
Assists Project withrecordkeeping and prepares routine and special reports.
Provides on-the-job trainingto less experienced employees.
Performs preventive andcorrective and predictive maintenance on mechanical and electrical machinery orequipment.
Regularly inspects the workingcondition and maintains the cleanliness and safety of equipment and surroundingareas.
Assist with review of capitalimprovement project studies, designs, and contract drawings.
Forecast material andequipment needs and performs other duties as required.

Electrician I position to workfor at the North Hudson SewerageAuthority in Hoboken, NJ. Work schedule: Monday through Friday 630 AM to 3 PM,after trained will need to be on rotating on call schedule.
