Designs and fabricates mechanical and electromechanical components for use in instructional labs, classroom demonstrations, and student or faculty projects. Performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory equipment and systems. Provides technical support and guidance to faculty and students in the use of laboratory tools, machines, and test equipment. Manages lab equipment inventories and operational readiness. Substitutions may be made for up to two years of the required experience. Valid California Driver's License preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate mechanical and electromechanical components using diverse materials, such as wood, metal, plastic, and composites, utilizing fabrication techniques including machining, welding, cutting, and basic assembly. Proficient in interpreting verbal instructions and sketches into functional, practical components, with familiarity in CAD and CAM software preferred for generating construction drawings or design refinements. Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing laboratory equipment, including hydraulic testing rigs, mechanical apparatus, and electromechanical instructional tools. Ability to effectively maintain preventive maintenance schedules, perform part replacements and adjustments, and consistently adhere to safety protocols across multiple laboratory environments. Classification: Equipment Technician II, Electro-Mechanical / 7012 / 1 The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4595 - $5278 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4595- $6694 per month. HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
