Skilled work installing, maintaining and servicing refrigeration, smoke evacuation and ventilation equipment as well as commercial electrical, gas and microwave appliances including stoves, ovens, tilt skillets, food conveyors, dishwashers, exhaust fans, washing machines, dryers, ironers and folders. Work includes adjusting and calibrating mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical controls kitchen and laundry equipment. Assignments are received in the form of oral instructions or written work orders and may be accompanied by sketches and blueprints. Works in a correctional facility with and around inmates. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair of commercial/industrial kitchen/restaurant equipment OR completion of a two (2) year technical/vocational Refrigeration and Commercial Appliance program AND one (1) year of experience in commercial/restaurant and refrigeration work. Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess Type I (Small Appliance) or Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants at time of application. Must obtain a Natural Gas Repair Certification within six (6) months of hire. PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Working in the electrical/plumbing trades; reading blueprints/sketches/schematics; working in a correctional facility. Also desirable: Natural Gas Repair Certification; knowledge of occupational hazards, safety, fire or building codes/standards (must specify on application). Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray and Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate. Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
