Responsibilities
Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems associated with all equipment in a manufacturing environment. Directly responsible for installation, maintenance & repair of all equipment concerned with plant operation, services & buildings including storage & inventory of spare parts. Use basic hand and specialty tools for repair equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
Read blueprints & wiring diagrams for the installation & repair of equipment and the facility
Disassembles, repairs/replaces parts and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, etc.
Cleans, lubricates & adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary
Major electrical repairs including 3-phase, 440 & troubleshoots PLC's, new installations of equipment, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances
Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or megger
Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems
Removes or replaces electrical transformers & lighting fixtures
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out
Communicates problems encountered throughout the shift to the production supervisor, maintenance lead acting supervisor or maintenance supervisor
Operates any equipment needed to perform job
Repair parts that require minor machine work & welding using gas & electric welding equipment
Must be capable of covering both mechanical and electrical equipment without support on off shifts
Has operating knowledge of all production & service equipment
Performs other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervision
Qualifications
5+ years electrical maintenance experience with strong electrical/mechanical knowledge of industrial systems and automated technologies
2 year electrical degree or similar education preferred but not required
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Basic computer skills required
Experience working with and leading teams successfully
Trained in lock out/tag out procedures

Job Summary
The Facilities Electrician at MDRR is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical systems and equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of facility infrastructure. Essential Job Functions
Install, maintain, and repair facility electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, motors, panels, and control systems.

Support the installation of new equipment and execution of electrical system upgrades.
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential failures and ensure system reliability.

Follow all Cal/OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards, including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry procedures.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
10+ years of heavy industrial electrical experience, preferably in the waste management or similar industry.
Strong background in VFDs, motors, transformers, and low- and mid-voltage systems.
Familiarity with mechanical systems and how they interact with electrical components.
Completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship or technical training program.
Valid electrician license or journeyman/master certification preferred.
Deep understanding of electrical theory, NEC, and safe industrial work practices.

What You Can Expect:
Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs per manufacturer and DCI guidelines, as well as AAMI standards
Educate direct patient care and technical staff on all equipment's proper use and maintenance, document training
Ensure technical and direct care staff follow equipment and facility policies and procedures
Confirm buliding and equipment maintenance is up to date and in good working order
Schedule and oversee outside maintenance vendors as needed
Maintain proper inventory following DCI guidelines
Perform air quality testing according to clinic policy
