Job Description
Position Overview:
* $26.35 to $36.49 hourly rate plus bonus opportunity.
* Perform various duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
* Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service.
* Provides emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
* Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
* Ability to install or modify 120v to 480v electrical systems such as lighting, motor controls, heating systems or equipment to NEC standards.
* Performs mechanic skills including but not limited to, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
* Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on Drives, PLC and other related motors starters and equipment.
* Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
* Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
* Will use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
* Safely operate and repair forklift.

JOB SUMMARY
The Fabrication Technician will work directly with Service Managers, Foreman, and Service Writer's as needed. He/She must be able to perform with a minimum of supervision in the areas of frame repairs, axle alignment, fabrication and mechanical repairs to suspension, axles, brakes, and mounting of 5th wheels, winches, PTO's, fenders, etc.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Uses all tools of the trade with proficiency, including shop machines, power tools, alignment equipment, welders, torch, press, cut-off saw, etc. Able to maintain these along with their own personal tools.
Able to read and understand blueprints and technical publications, including service manuals and service bulletins, and use this information to perform the work.
Able to determine the usability of all associated parts and able to list and order all needed parts.
Must be able to write a good write up of all work performed on each individual repair.
Must be able to use or learn to use the computer to punch on and off repair orders, and electronic time clock.
Perform repairs in an accepted time standard.
Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner.
Ability to use and train helpers in a productive manner.
Ability to follow Bruckner policy and procedure implied and expressed.
Works with a minimum of supervision.
Is a good steward of company tools and resources
Achieves and maintains certifications as required by the company, the OEM's or by Federal Law.

Perform scheduled maintenance on all equipment based on all equipment based on the manufacturer's recommendations and the Operating and Maintenance manual.

Repair fencing when required.
Cleaning of vacant units; receives priority of work to perform from the Community Manager or the Facilities Manager.
Care and timely maintenance of all equipment entrusted to his/her/their care.
Maintain maintenance and cleaning supplies and request re-ordering of those supplies in a timely manner from the Community Manager or the Facilities Manager.
Always maintain awareness of proper safety precautions.
Wear support belt, use safety equipment (goggles, masks, and gloves, etc.) as tasks dictate.
On-call for emergencies
Be aware of all utility shut offs; shutting off immediately as needed in the event of fire or flood.
Make sure storage areas and entrances are locked, and adequate lighting in those areas is maintained.
Have knowledge regarding contracts and suppliers, their services, goods, and prices.

Salary: This position is based on the range 57G of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $75,108 and maximum annual salary of $87,048. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. The Role:
The Maintenance Mechanic 2 performs skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of buildings, mechanical facilities, and equipment both individually and with other Facilities Maintenance staff as needed. Incumbents work independently and utilize a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. The duties, specific tasks or combinations of tasks are performed professionally and efficiently, incorporating both personal integrity and mutual respect. All employees are expected to uphold and contribute to CWU's vision, mission, and values, fostering a culture of student success and institutional excellence.
Job Duties
Perform general maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction. Work may be included but not limited to:
* Effectively communicate and maintain positive working relations with faculty, staff, students, and the campus community as well as FMD management team. Perform work in a manner that provides excellent service with nominal to no inconvenience or disruption for the client. Perform quality work that meets or exceeds the expectation and satisfaction of the client.
* Perform work using Best Practices while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures to provide a safe workplace.
* General construction work including rough and finish carpentry work; examples include framing walls, install sheetrock and finish trim; install doors and trim. Install roof coatings and repair roofs; install and repair floor coverings, plastic laminates, and ceramic/quarry/marble tile.
* Install and repair carpet, carpet pad, carpet tile, vinyl, rubber cover base, and ceramic/quarry tile. Work includes but is not limited to preparation of surfaces, applications of adhesives, pastes, mortars, and grouts. Cabinet and furniture installation. Fence repair and new installation of fencing. Window and door repair/replacement. Equipment installation.
* General painting and coating work to include surface preparation, tap and mud wall board, application of all types of coatings, and paints utilizing brush, roller, and spray equipment. Install and repair plaster and synthetic plaster.
* Improvement project work on university facilities.
* Perform work on electrical systems such as 110-volt electrical switch and receptacle replacement, electrical connection repair, light fixture repair, hot water heater repair and replacement, repair and replace fractional horsepower motors, maintain, and repair branch panel systems.
* Erect, maintain, use, and dismantle equipment such as scaffolding, ladders, barricades, and temporary fencing. Operate high lift equipment.
* Performs asbestos abatement under supervision.
* Perform work on/in mechanical rooms and hot water heat systems.
* Perform preventive maintenance on all types of mechanical systems including changing belts and filters.
* Maintain and repair shop equipment.
* Perform maintenance and repair on plumbing systems such as unplugging drains replacing finish plumbing fixtures and repair of flush meters.
* Cleans roofs, roof drains, and gutters.
* Respond in emergency situations.
* Ensure all tools, equipment and vehicle are maintained in good working order.
* Keep all work areas clean, well-organized, and safe at all times.
* Operate service vehicles on and off campus and use equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, and telehandlers to transport materials to buildings for maintenance.
Trainings and Certifications:
* Maintain Washington State Asbestos Worker Certification throughout employment.
* Maintain certification to operate forklift and boom lifts throughout employment.
* Maintain lead renovation certificate throughout employment.
* Keep up to date on best practices and attend trainings as outlined by department.
* Attend departmental meetings, safety meetings and actively participate in training sessions.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Experience and/or education demonstrating a substantial working knowledge of a variety of skilled fields such as carpentry, plumbing, painting and/or electric or any applicable field.
* Strong communication skills.
* Valid Washington State driver's license.
* Ability to obtain a Washington State Asbestos Worker Certification within twelve months of hire.
* Ability to obtain lead renovator certification within twelve months of hire.
* Ability to obtain certification to operate forklift and boom lifts within twelve months of hire.
* Ability to pass respirator physical to be able to wear a respirator for use in abatement and any other uses when necessary.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and professional manner.
* Able to work independently and monitor progress against defined parameters.
* Experience using Word, Excel, email, and/or similar software applications to produce written correspondence, documentation, create simple reports, receive, and respond to email inquiries, report time, etc.
* Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
* OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
* Journey level status in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, or related fields.
* Asbestos worker certification.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary: This position is based on the range 48G of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $60,132 and maximum annual salary of $69,744. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) May vary depending on needs of the department / WFSE Bargaining Unit 1
Working Conditions: This position may work indoors and outdoors at times in hot/cold/noisy/dirty/wet/confined areas such as mechanical rooms, manholes and excavations, and may need to physically access work areas with the equipment and tools necessary for completion of the job. This often requires standing/crawling/bending/walking/climbing while carrying/pulling/pushing/lifting associated with equipment or tools up to 50 pounds. Occasional overtime is required, and shift work may be required. May need to drive a service vehicle in congested areas. Utilize and wear appropriate personal protection devices such as respirators, ear protection, eye and face protection, and fall protection. Scheduled hours and days off may vary depending on the needs of the department. May be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position is subject to unplanned overtime including emergency call back situations. Occasional travel may be required. Incumbent will work around all utilities during excavations, maintenance and installations and be exposed to insects that may be in the environment.
