Job Responsibilities:
🔧 Responsibilities
Install, wire, and test residential and light commercial standby generators (air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems)
Perform load calculations and verify proper sizing, grounding, and transfer switch operation
Troubleshoot and repair generator electrical issues with professionalism and accuracy
Conduct preventative maintenance and performance testing
Maintain detailed documentation of work performed and communicate clearly with customers
Follow all Hutton safety standards and company procedures
Install and/or Upgrade a wide variety of electrical components ranging from generators, rewires, additions, panels, etc..
Provide electrical service and/or repair to customers' homes, apartments, and businesses
Coordinate with utility service providers and local code officials to ensure proper guidelines are established.
Responsible for adhering to all OSHA safety standards and regulations including the use of proper PPE at all times
Keep truck clean, stocked and accurately inventoried
$35-$45 an hour plus bonuses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Valid Virginia Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of residential or generator electrical experience preferred
Strong understanding of NEC codes, transfer switches, and standby power systems
Factory Training from generator manufacturers is a plus. Generac, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Cummins, etc.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver's license and clean driving record

The Role
Deck electricians are largely responsible for the installation, repair, overhaul, and operational testing of the electrical systems aboard the ship. Electricians can be working on one of the many electrical systems aboard the ship including lighting, power distribution, communication or navigation. Electricians read and interpret complex electrical and electronic schematics. The job of an electrician is unique in that it requires an individual that can quickly switch between differing tasks ranging from lighting and receptacle hook-ups, installing wire way racks, rebuilding equipment, installing electronic controls, lighting maintenance, performing preventative maintenance, or welding of studs for mounting equipment.

Full-time Description
One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning is seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our Virginia Beach team. The Electrician will be responsible for managing and performing the electrical service calls, installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components in existing and new unit installations for residential homes. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring techniques, safety procedures, and building codes. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to diagnose issues efficiently, perform quality work, and deliver excellent customer service.
Requirements
Manage and perform the electrical service calls.
Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, lighting, and control systems, in existing and new unit installations for residential homes.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently and effectively, using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
Ensure that all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards.
Partner with the administration team to properly schedule permits and inspection.
Follow all OSHA, NEC (National Electrical Code), and company safety protocols to create a safe working environment.
Communicate with homeowners regarding electrical issues, provide clear explanations of work to be done, and quality service to ensure customer satisfaction.
Quote potential work orders while on site.
Accurately complete work orders, maintain records of repairs and installations, and document any necessary follow-up actions.
Perform routine maintenance on existing electrical systems and advise on system upgrades to improve efficiency and safety.
Work closely with installation, administration, service, and management for project completion.
Required Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience as an electrician, with residential experience.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications.
Familiar with hand and power tools used in electrical work and able to operate testing equipment, such as multimeters and ohmmeters.
Must provide basic hand tools
Ability to work in various conditions (e.g., attics, basements), lift heavy equipment (up to 75 lbs), and stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and technical competence.
Excellent written and communication skills for customer interaction.

**Qualified Candidates will be able to:**
+ Work closely with Senior Electricians to develop or improve current knowledge of various shipboard electrical tasks.
+ Learn how to read electrical drawing/diagrams.
+ Develop key skills to execute clean and efficient wiring in cabinets.
+ Learn to properly route cables throughout cableways.
+ Use calibrated tools such as Multi-Meters and Meggers
**Other Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and within work sites as required.
+ Inventory received material.
+ Help maintain a clean worksite.
+ Assist senior technicians with drilling, cutting, and modifying various shipboard items.
+ Be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds
**Position Requirements:**
+ US Citizenship.
+ Must meet requirements to obtain a Federal Secret Clearance.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Minimum of one (1) year of marine/maritime related experience.
+ Ability to perform general maintenance tasks.
+ Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
+ Knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.
+ Ability to work aboard ships which includes frequent climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
+ Must have a Valid U.S. Driver's License.
+ Must pass drug screening as a condition of employment.
