Hughes has an exciting opportunity for a RF Electro-Mechanical Engineer. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
Work with RF engineers, to analyze problems and perform mechanical design for RF devices to achieve RF performance Work with RF engineers to design or redesign mechanical RF devices or subsystems, using analysis and computer-aided design Develop and test prototypes of devices they design, assist RF engineer to debug RF devices mechanically Analyze the test results and optimize design or system as needed Oversee the manufacturing process for RF devices
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with RF electronics background10+ years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Able to understand concepts of RF microwave waveguide structure and PWB design Good understanding in machining process/ low cost volume manufacturing methods/process such as diecasting, injection molding etc is needed.Good interpersonal skills to work across different engineering groups such as RF engineers, mechanical engineers and production engineers (vendors) to move RF products from design to mass production
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electro-Mechanical Engineer supplies the design and management skill set for lighting related product engineering and maintenance of heavy duty truck and bus products. The Electro-Mechanical Engineer shall have the skills and background requirements of the Project Engineer with an emphasis on optical design and lighting related standards and requirements. The Electro-Mechanical Engineer is also responsible for complying with the company's quality system procedures as documented.

REPORTS TO (Title):

Director of Engineering

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Project design, development, and validation usually associated with lighting related products and services.
* Documentation, specification of materials and components, development and control of project design plan, project scheduling and budgeting, product cost estimates and quotations, product design, customer interfacing for product scope and validation, and continual product improvement through technology, processing, and cost reduction.
* Regular interface and relationship development with customers.
* Understand quality and State safety regulations.
* Knowledge of changing products in the marketplace.
* All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

* BSME or BSEE as appropriated to the electrical or mechanical nature of design responsibility.
* Electro-Mechanical Engineer will have 5+ years of experience in lighting related product engineering and/or project management.
* 2+ years of lamp design/engineering experience preferred.
* Project management, and understanding and use of problem-solving techniques.
* Background in automotive related design practice is preferred.
* Strong problem solving skill set, excellent documentation and record keeping practices, and a working knowledge of SAE, DOT, and other industry standards and government requirements as applicable to product design, testing, validation, and certification.
* Experienced with project team and management principles and practices.
* May be assigned direct technical reports such as technicians and/or interns.

We are seeking a Electro- Mechanical Engineering who will be responsible for researching, plan, and design electromechanical and mechanical products and systems, and coordinates activities involved in prototype fabrication, operation, and testing of electromechanical or mechanical products and systems.
Responsibilities
Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of
design or application

Interface with others in the MQ organization (i.e.: ProdMgmt, SalesDept) to discuss/review customer
requirements, timelines.

Implement and assist with the design and development of various engine-driven products.
Analyze and document the risk factors of such new designs/modifications.
Interface with suppliers/vendors as required to complete projects.
Study the implementation and available resources which might affect the schedule/budget considerations;
communicate this information to the Engineering Manager and/or Sr. Management staff.
Participate in new designs/modifications prototype testing to ensure product design, functionality and ensure
product meets regulatory standards.
Create Bill-Of-Materials (BOM's) and complete Engineering Change Orders (ECO's). Add documentation to MQ
Engineering vault.
Create engineering drawings, schematics and other documents as required, to meet Company guidelines.
Support department needs as required and perform other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
BS in an Engineering discipline with 5+ years of work experience in engine-driven applications.
Competent to assume a primary design role for machine control system design and implementation.
Must have a strong background in DC systems with the ability to design, construct, and document wiring
schematics.
Thorough knowledge of CANbus communications protocols.
Experience programming with Plus+1, iQAN or similar type machine control systems
Desired Skills:
Strong verbal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
High level of mechanical aptitude and familiarity with diesel and IC engines.
Experience with SAP software is desirable.
Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Zuken E3 software programs
Additional Notes:
Must be willing to travel to other MQ Facilities as necessary, to meet project requirements.
Must be willing to work various Trade Shows when required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers
or employees of organization.
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability
to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult
phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
