Electronic assembler certifications demonstrate your competency as an electronic assembler to employers. However, not all electronic assembler certifications provide the same value.
Below is a list of the best electronic assembler certifications. Obtaining an electronic assembler certification will give you a leg up when you apply for jobs and increase your potential salary.
| Rank | Electronic assembler certification | Organization |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | IPC Certification Using IPC-7711 and IPC 7721 | IPC |
| 2 | Master Certified Electronics Technician (CETma) | ETA |
| 3 | Industrial Electronics (IND) | ETA |
| 4 | Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM) | PMI |
| 5 | IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification | IPC |
| 6 | Avionics Electronics Technician (AVN) | ETA |
This widely used standard offers a wealth of industry-approved techniques on through-hole and surface-mount rework as well as land, conductor and laminate repair. It covers procedural requirements, tools, materials and methods for removing and replacing conformal coatings, surface mount and through-hole components. The standard also includes procedures for repairing and modifying boards and assemblies. In addition, it is now updated with additional support for lead free, BGAs and flex-print repairs.
A technician with six or more years combined work and electronics training may be eligible for the ETA Master Certified Electronics Technician (CETma) certification. The Master certification was created to showcase those technicians who are able to demonstrate proficiency in the many fields of electronics. In addition to the Associate level certification, one must successfully obtain six other certifications, with no more than two originating from the same specialized category, in order to qualify.
Industrial journeyman-level electronics technicians are expected to obtain knowledge of industrial electronics basic concepts, which are then applicable to all the various specialty areas of industry. Industrial Electronics Technicians must be knowledgeable and have abilities in the following technical and human relations areas: Amplifiers, Optical Wiring, Block Diagrams-Schematics, Power Supplies, Test Equipment-Tools, Mathematics, Computers-Digital Concepts, Safety, Satellite-Wireless-Data, Communications, Cabling, Troubleshooting, Motors, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Software.
Experienced medical office professionals with exceptional administrative skills are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Office Manager (CMOM) exam. To attain CMOM certification, all candidates must demonstrate a high level of knowledge in financial management, managed care contracting, personnel, and time management. Risk management, medical record keeping and facility management issues should also be mastered.
IPC/WHMA-A-620 enjoyed almost immediate international acceptance since its first release in 2002, and quickly became the most important process, materials and inspection standard for the cable and wire harness industry. Now updated to lead free for terminal soldering criteria, IPC/WHMA-A-620 has been embraced by original equipment manufacturers and electronics manufacturing services companies worldwide.
The avionics specialty is designed to assess the knowledge and skills of individuals who install, maintain and adjust electronics equipment, cabling and the accessories used in aviation communications and control equipment. An FCC GROL is also highly recommended. Several of the topics covered in this examination include: Avionics Systems, Cabling, Computers and Digital Concepts, Amplifiers, Interfacing, Antennas and Transmission Lines Components, Mathematics, Network Topologies and Infrastructures, People Relations, Optical Cabling, Safety, Test Equipment and Tools and Satellite Communications.
The best electronic assembler certification is IPC Certification Using IPC-7711 and IPC 7721. The IPC Certification Using IPC-7711 and IPC 7721 is awarded by the Institute of Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits. This certification is great to have as it shows an improvement in your competency to perform your role. You can earn this certification at the beginning of your career, as it often doesn't require a minimum education level and work experience.
Here's a bit more background on how to obtain this electronic assembler certification:
