Electronic systems technician certifications demonstrate your competency as an electronic systems technician to employers. However, not all electronic systems technician certifications provide the same value.
Below is a list of the best electronic systems technician certifications. Obtaining an electronic systems technician certification will give you a leg up when you apply for jobs and increase your potential salary.
| Rank | Electronic systems technician certification | Organization |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Certified Electronic Systems Technician (EST) | ESPA |
| 2 | Master Certified Electronics Technician (CETma) | ETA |
| 3 | Certified Electronics Systems Associate (ESA) | ISCET |
| 4 | EPA Amusement Operators Safety Certification (EPA) | EPA |
| 5 | OSHA Safety Certificate | Delaware Tech... |
| 6 | CompTIA A+ Certification | CompTIA |
The ESPA Certified-EST® exam is based upon the best practices of the commercial and residential electronic industries. ESPA certification "sets the bar" and provides the foundational knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in many fields including commercial and residential A/V, telecom, cable, satellite, fire & security, computers, building & general trades, green technologies, and advanced manufacturing. The ESPA Certified-EST exam is becoming the recognized entry-level certification for both the residential and commercial low-voltage industries. This certification will demonstrate to employers that an individual has a solid, fundamental knowledge on which to build a career. This exam tests basic technical knowledge needed by a first year technician to work in the field, under supervision.
A technician with six or more years combined work and electronics training may be eligible for the ETA Master Certified Electronics Technician (CETma) certification. The Master certification was created to showcase those technicians who are able to demonstrate proficiency in the many fields of electronics. In addition to the Associate level certification, one must successfully obtain six other certifications, with no more than two originating from the same specialized category, in order to qualify.
The ESA program covers DC, AC, Semi and Digital in 4 parts. Certificates are awarded for passing each of the 4 parts, DC, AC, Semi-conductor & Digital. Once all 4 certificates are earned the Associate CET is awarded. The ESA program offers advantages to student and instructors that the Associate level CET program does not offer. Once all four (4) parts of the ESA are successfully completed, the Associate CET Certificate is awarded.
A comprehensive, equipment specific safety program designed to provide operators and their employees with a thorough understanding of best risk management practices. Industry accidents, which serve to put a spotlight on potential issues, can often be avoided through the utilization of proper risk management techniques.
This 40-hour program covers both the Construction 1926 and General Industry 1910 Standards, how to effectively interpret the Federal Register, health issues related to a work environment, recognition of physical hazards related to the violation of OSHA standards, and employer implementation of their own pro-active safety and health procedures.
CompTIA A+ certification validates the knowledge and skills of entry-level computer service technicians. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification recognized by major hardware and software vendors, distributors and resellers. CompTIA A+ confirms a technician's ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.
The best electronic systems technician certification is Certified Electronic Systems Technician (EST). The Certified Electronic Systems Technician (EST) is awarded by the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance. This certification is great to have as it shows an improvement in your competency to perform your role. You can earn this certification at the beginning of your career, as it often doesn't require a minimum education level and work experience.
