**Automotive Electronics Test Technician - R117899**

We are currently seeking an Automotive Electronics Test Technician at our Nissan Technical Center North America in Farmington Hills, MI to validate vehicle electrical systems and components on bench, prototype vehicles and automatic test machine using existing test procedures and electrical test equipment. Instrument test vehicle, perform test procedure, gather and analyze test data and report test results to test/design engineers on schedule.

Job functions include:

+ Instrument test vehicle, read electrical schematics, set-up and use electrical measurement equipment oscilloscope, meter, data acquisition, PC based diagnostic tools Knowledge of automotive electrical system and electrical circuits and components.

+ Use shop tools to install/remove parts and instrument vehicles for testing.

+ Record, analyze and summarize test data using MS Word/Excel, etc.

+ Fabricate simple test harnesses and test fixtures using hand tools and soldering station.

+ Suggest and implement improvements to the test procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.

+ Climb into the vehicle or crawl under the vehicle for removal repair of trim and other vehicle components; perform test procedures, gather and analyze test data and report test results to test/design engineers according to an agreed schedule.

Qualifications

+ HS Diploma required; Associate's degree highly preferred

+ Read electrical schematics, use of electrical measurement equipment oscilloscope, digital multi meter, data acquisition, PC based diagnostic tools, etc.

+ Experienced with vehicle electrical problem troubleshooting is a plus.

+ RF measuring and Spectrum Analyzer knowledge is a plus.

+ Knowledge of CAN communication and ability to use CAN analysis tools is a plus.

+ Capable of working independently and comfortable in a team setting.

+ Relatively clean driving record

+ Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Job DescriptionSalary: $22.00+/Hour

Magna-Power Electronics, a Flemington, New Jersey based electronics manufacturer and a recipient of the 2020 NJ Top Workplaces and 2021 Great Places to Work™ awards, is seeking a Test Technician to join its dedicated world class team. With continued growth, Magna-Power competes in a worldwide marketplace and addresses a broad range of applications, including electric vehicle powertrain development and manufacturing, particle accelerators, semiconductor fabrication, cutting-edge energy research, national defense, among many others. Given the complex nature of the products, there will be significant hands-on training and interaction with various Magna-Power teams.

Four Day (10 Hours/Day) Work Weeks with potential Overtime


Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Perform test operations utilizing test methods and/or written or verbal instructions as required.
  • Obtain necessary reference documentation as required to perform testing e.g., test methods, specification drawings, schematics.
  • Set up test equipment as required to perform all necessary tests and/or troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Make adjustments and remove components as required for fault isolation.
  • Operate automated test systems utilizing test software.
  • Performs fault isolation on production components as required.
  • Keep production records, logbooks and test data as required.
  • Completes testing methods involving monitoring, assembling, improving, and manipulating a power supply unit and an electronic load to ensure it is in no way defective.
  • Assembles and runs test circuits to ensure electronic components perform according to product specifications.
  • Performs calibration tests under real-world conditions.
  • Reports defective materials or equipment to the Production Manager or trainer.
  • Material handling, loads/unloads materials delivered from inventory, stores materials in assigned locations.
  • Understands the various materials used at Magna-Power.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Performs in a safe manner at all times while adhering to the Company safety policies. Wears PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times, if applicable.

Education and Experience


  • High school diploma or GED required and at least 0-2 years related experience and/or training within the Testing Department, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Electronic Technology Certificate. Associate of Science degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with and assembling hardware systems (mechanical and electrical hardware). Experience with test equipment including signal generators, oscilloscopes, and volt meters.
  • Good analytical and mechanical aptitude. Ability to perform basic math. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and experience with digital electronics, circuit functions, basic electronics, electrical wiring, BOMs and blueprint reading. Familiar with Radio Frequency (RF) measurement equipment and testing techniques.
