Our client seeks an electronics engineer at their suburban Chicago headquarters to design new products and modify existing products. You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team with responsibility for developing a wide range of analog and digital electronics, interfaces, and battery management components.

Position Overview
Develop electronics for existing and new products Design and test analog signal conditioning, microcontroller interfaces, communication and control circuits for data acquisition products Conduct simulation, prototyping and bench testing to analyze circuit components Create design and specification documents, test plans and progress reports Design and layout PCBs using Altium software Generate BOMs using Altium software Program in embedded C as needed Provide technical support to and work with technicians, software developers and manufacturing as needed In a team-oriented setting, participate in DFMEA, DFM, and DFP analysis
Candidate Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering At least 5 years of electronics design experience Ability to design analog and digital circuits Experience with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, USB, Wi-Fi, IoT and Bluetooth Proficiency using Altium software for PCB layout and schematics capture Experience with ARM Cortex and 8-bit microcontrollers Embedded C programming proficiency Ability to work in a cross-functional oriented setting Strong interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer who can design, develop, troubleshoot and debug hardware and firmware for high power RF systems. You will support the development of new hardware subsystems, from specification to architecture, simulation, detailed design, component selection, layout, reliability prediction and test.

Duties Include:

Understand and negotiate breakdown of generator specification to electrical subsystem or circuit board Determine feasibility and conduct tradeoffs between performance, cost, reliability, and time to market Conduct first article test on new subsystem or circuit board, validate specifications, support development of factor subsystem test development Support RF generator testing to validate operation in-situ Find multiple sources and validate new sources to ensure continuity of supply Take ownership of assigned subsystems throughout the product life cycle

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree with electrical experience More experienced engineers are encouraged to apply

6 months+ of RF systems experience (school, internship and co-ops considered), ideally experience with RF test equipment Experience working in multidisciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test) Ability to support multiple efforts simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment

This Power Electronics Engineer performs power electronic hardware design, thermal management, algorithm development, application of power electronic components into HVAC applications, existing product improvements, supplier product evaluations and product continuation. This work may require product validation testing, ensuring agency approvals and utilizing tools such as Simulink and MATLAB to model component function and performance.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (others may be added):

Apply variable speed drives to HVAC equipment, especially compressors and fans. Interface chiller level controls and safety features to the drive. Optimize VFD cooling for product specific needs. Analyze motor-drive compatibility and tune the electrical system for optimal performance. Write specifications for electrical components in the motor-drive system. Conduct qualification testing of the motor-drive system. Provide lifecycle support of the product, including field and factory problem resolution. Work as part of multi-functional development team to meet overall program goals.



MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 2 years of work experience on variable speed drives is required. Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS or KNOWLEDGE:


Detailed knowledge of power conversion hardware. Detailed knowledge of motor-drive compatibility & interactions. Good Understanding of variable speed motor controls & PWM. Proficiency sizing electrical components. Understanding of agency regulations, especially UL and CE. HVAC equipment /system knowledge a plus. Systems integration / engineering knowledge a plus.


Annual Compensation Range is $70,000 to $123,000 annually. Disclaimer: This salary range is based on US national averages. Actual pay could be a result of seniority/experience level, merit and geographic location where the actual work is performed.
