JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend has a need for part-time Instructors in engineering disciplines for the Spring (January 2026) and Fall (August 2026) semesters.
Positions are dependent upon class enrollments; enrollments of less than nine students may necessitate canceling the class and position. Salary is competitive. Responsibilities include using a syllabus and course materials approved by the School of Engineering to teach courses offered in our baccalaureate programs.
Required qualifications include:
Evidence of an earned Master of Science degree in an engineering discipline or a baccalaureate degree with significant industrial experience
Evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching including the use of current technology
Evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds, commensurate with experience.

We seek outstanding candidates to establish an internationally recognized, competitively funded individual research program in cellular and molecular engineering research AND who have a strong vision for future research within our rich community. The research areas of interest include but are not exclusive to: (1) vaccine development to modulate autoimmune or inflammatory conditions, (2) gene editing and gene therapy targeted at immunomodulation, (3) microbiome genome/epigenome engineering to promote control of the immune system, (4) biomaterial-mediated approaches to facilitate immune regulation, and (5) general plans related to multiple systems biology tools, such as proteomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, and immunology.
Clinical translation is a major goal of our program, so previous experience working on clinical applications is strongly preferred. POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineering Instructor to lead the teaching of the SEO Tech Developer Summer Residency. This role will interface directly with our Program Manager and Teaching Assistants to ensure students (rising college Juniors) are prepared to launch successful SWE and SWE-adjacent careers. The Software Engineering Instructor will work closely with the program's Lead Teaching Assistant to guide students through the curriculum through project-based assignments with well-defined guidelines and deliverables. The role demands a strong interest in career empowerment and mentorship for our students.
We are looking for an individual who will bring enthusiasm for learning and the ability to motivate and cultivate individuals across various technical backgrounds to grow their software engineering skills. Additionally, we aim to work with someone who recognizes AI's versatility in today's shifting tech landscape and can guide our students to use generative AI tools carefully and effectively.
On a day-to-day basis, the Software Engineering Instructor can expect to:
Deliver daily lectures from 11AM-12:30PM ET, creating an interactive student experience through mini quizzes, live coding demos, etc.
Review and refine lesson materials (lecture slides, assignments), curriculum scheduling, and project expectations to best meet the needs of the cohort
Consistently check in with Teaching Assistants to assess student progress
Work with teaching and program staff to organize student demo-day presentations including final project Demo Days from July 22nd to 24th

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Overview

The position is intended for a senior faculty member with an extensive track record of research excellence who will be able to push the envelope of manufacturing to address new challenges in the field. Essential Functions
The successful candidate will be expected to:

* Currently hold a tenured full professor rank position;

Job Overview

POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Aerospace Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park campus, invites applications for full-time, tenure-track faculty position to start in Fall 2026. The position is intended for the rank of Assistant Professor, although exceptional applicants may also be considered for the higher rank. The College of Engineering and the Department seek to grow their capability for research and education in sustainable space operations to enable a more sustainable, robust, and enduring space ecosystem. This includes spacecraft propulsion enabling new missions and applications for spacecraft, repairing and refueling spacecraft, building structures in-orbit, and fabricating components in space as dictated by rapid emerging needs. The desired areas of expertise include (but not limited to): space propulsion, space robotics, deployable space structures, on-board sensing, autonomy and AI to support space operations.
The job duties at each rank include establishing an impactful research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing new courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students and service to the institute and the profession, and contributing to a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff and students. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in aerospace engineering or a related field by the start date. + Teach in-person and/or online courses in areas of specialization that include: architectural engineering, construction engineering management; engineering education, geomatics engineering; geotechnical engineering; infrastructure materials engineering; ocean and coastal engineering; structural engineering; surveying; transportation engineering; water resources engineering; statics; and information technology (Excel, VBA , and Matlab); computer-aided drafting (Autodesk, AutoCAD and Rivit); or application of engineering software (Land Development Desktop, Civil 3-D). Key Responsibilities
90% Teaching
* Teach in-person and/or online courses in areas of specialization that include: architectural engineering, construction engineering management; engineering education, geomatics engineering; geotechnical engineering; infrastructure materials engineering; ocean and coastal engineering; structural engineering; surveying; transportation engineering; water resources engineering; statics; and information technology (Excel, VBA, and Matlab); computer-aided drafting (Autodesk, AutoCAD and Rivit); or application of engineering software (Land Development Desktop, Civil 3-D). Instructor may assist development of course materials and inform overall curriculum design.
* Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating in person and online classroom discussions, assessing student performance, preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession, and creating an inclusive classroom (e.g., mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, fostering affirming classroom interactions across difference, and challenging structural/cultural barriers that limit movement towards social equity in engineering education and practice).
5% Supervision
* Instructors provide leadership, supervision, and direction for undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants.
5% Service
* Instructors are expected to serve on committees, participate in professional development trainings, and be an engaged faculty member in support of the University and College strategic initiatives for the School of Civil and Construction Engineering.
What You Will Need
* Master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
* Demonstrable interest in teaching and mentoring.
* Ability to work within an established course/curriculum structure.
* Proficiency in communicating technical information in written and spoken English.
* Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
What We Would Like You to Have
* PhD Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
* Experience in teaching lab-based courses at the college or university level.
* Experience with remote and online teaching.
* Experience with course management tools such as Canvas.
* Experience developing instructional materials for online or hybrid courses.
* Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate assistants.
