Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs expert level break-fix & preventative maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: observing devises in operation to location root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examining parts to detect imperfections; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device to observe performance; and performing tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; reconditioning and repairing machine tools.
Identifies and sources parts, supplies and repair items as necessary. Performs evaluations of alternatives to improve cost and / or reliability of equipment.
Independently performs maintenance as per industry standards.
Works with customer counterparts to optimize maintenance, reliability, and preventative maintenance procedures.
May be required to setup and operate multiple machining operations including but not limited to: lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform welding tasks.
Conforms and complies with customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and safety processes
Documents work performed in service reports, applicable management systems, and written explanation regarding observation and collected equipment performance data.
Provides assistance to lower level technicians and leadership to project teams. Performs expert functions as a part of training and development.
Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systems to resolve in-depth software/ hardware and configuration problems.
Utilizes advanced maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data. Observes trends and makes recommendations.
Completes and conducts on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development.
Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:
Essential KSAs:
High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
Associates degree with a Technical focus and 10 years of related experience in specific industry; or, 12 years of experience in specific industry.
Possesses comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power and control systems. Can analyze the problem, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.
Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.

Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and support for our analytical instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products, including demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair and maintenance support for assigned products.
Conduct in-house bench repairs as needed while primarily handling field service calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.
Offer technical support via phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance and installations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
At least four years of experience in repairing analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, LCMS, AA, or similar instruments.
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of these technologies.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Willingness to travel at least 50%

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $75,000 to $77,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan (10% of base salary) based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use) and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

The role of the Maintenance - Automation Technician is responsible for making sure all automated machines are running effectively. Stopping production when machines are not running effectively, troubleshooting the problem, and find the solutions quickly. Operate auto-palletizing robot.
Ensure cartoner, case erector, and robotic palletizer are operating effectively.
Follow good manufacturing practices and HACCP training, along with company SOP's.
Manage start-up to make sure equipment is in proper operating condition.
Perform necessary checks at start of shift and at each new product change over; document on paperwork, code date, correct label, upper/lower film, etc.
Move and install plant machinery and equipment as needed.
Perform preventative maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment as scheduled.
Ability to give detailed descriptions related to troubleshooting and repair of equipment on a PC based system.
Extensive experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, electronic equipment.
Ensure product conforms to specifications.
Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
Prevent/minimize rework and/or inedible product.
Monitor workflow to maximize machine output efficiencies.
Keep accurate records of products produced and materials used.
Suggest improvements; continuously improve the quality of all support activities.
Tasks will vary as situations and demands change; the lead/foreman/supervisor will assign tasks as necessary.

The starting rate for this role is $23.42-$29.28 hourly. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
A valid Driver's License and clean driving record is required
1-2 years of CATV, fiber installation, or other relevant technical/electronic experience.
Able to install, troubleshoot, and repair customer products/services using knowledge of plant distribution, fiber systems, and customer equipment.
Ability to install and run fiber drops, interior fiber pathways, and terminate customer fiber services.
Able to locate and mark underground services utilizing test equipment, prints, and database mapping software.
Splice and repair fiber, including fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, and prepping fiber terminals for activation.
Knowledge and experience working with electronics, DC power, and fiber optic equipment.
Able to properly operate small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
Able to work independently and plan tasks to complete projects efficiently.
Strong computer skills in Word and Excel.
Able to accurately measure distances using tapes or other measuring devices.
Able to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires/cables.
Ability to work in tight spaces including attics, crawl spaces, cabinets, utility closets, and telco rooms.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with all OSHA, FCC, NEC, and local ordinances.
Working Conditions:
Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools, equipment, and ladders.
Kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, pulling, bending, pushing, and reaching above head.
Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat.
Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and insects.
On-call rotation every 3 weeks.
