Responsibilities
As an Electronic Technician Trainee, you will be trained to install, test, certify, and maintain PacifiCorp communications systems including but not limited to the following voice and data communication systems; telephone systems, analog and digital microwave radio systems, land mobile radio systems, SCADA and MAS systems, power line carrier equipment, telemetry, tone relay, fiber optics nodes and cable, and associated switching and termination equipment. Configure and troubleshoot equipment and create detailed work and maintenance reports. Typically will be assigned to work with other company personnel on work assignments. Responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the Company for use in the role.
Location listed for this position is for TRAINING ONLY. You may be assigned to a new location upon completion of the trainee program. You will be required to bid to a regular, permanent position and location after successful completion of the training course.
Requirements
Two-year College or technical degree in electrical, electrical apprenticeship, or equivalent experience (military experience, etc.)
FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL) with elements 1 & 3.
Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Internet browsers and Excel).
Must pass PacifiCorp's' Electronic Technician Trainee pool exam.
Must have a valid driver's license with evidence of a safe driving record.

A day-in-the-life of an ERS Field Representative

What You'll Bring:

CSEIP (Certified Systems Engineer ICAM PACS) Certified preferred, or MUST be able to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge and experience of compliance with industry standards, policies, and guidelines such as: physical and electronic security; access and key control; HSPD; NIST SP; FICAM; OMB; and ISC.
Knowledge of other security disciplines and their relationship to the electronic and physical security program to respond to and troubleshoot system problems.
Demonstrated experience in team lead supervision of personnel and technical functions, project execution and coordination of all aspects of complex ESS projects and installations.

The Building Automation Technician position requires a solid understanding of both HVAC equipment and Building Automation Systems (BAS) and the electrical circuits that power them. This position is designed to enhance EMS team's customer service through enhanced communication, application and technical understanding of Direct Digital Controlled Building Automation and Energy Management systems to assist departmental staff with the safe, efficient, proper operation of HVAC systems providing managing the comfort for 2.7 Million square feet of the "conditioned" living and learning environment.
At the entry level this position supports the Energy Management Systems team's operations splitting time between field and operations center, learning the BAS Software, AU Campus facilities and systems, and acting as an intermediary between the operators in the EMS operations center working collaboratively in the field with the Central Plant Operators and Building Maintenance Staff assigned with assigned work orders trouble-shooting more difficult HVAC terminal equipment issues where needed.
As this individual achieves journeyman status they will have developed an in depth understanding of AU's various BAS software/systems, their capabilities (alarms, energy management programs, equipment modes/sequences of operations, equipment scheduling, operational trends data collection and troubleshooting tools) and integration with third party equipment, controllers, HMI's. A journeyman BAS Technician will be familiar with all BAS system components (analog and digital I/O's, system safeties, system design standards, and systems commissioning. A journeyman technician can assist or guide troubleshooting, investigation, repairs and has a strong understanding of and capability regarding Building Automation System operations and preventive maintenance.
At more advanced stages this position will begin to gain more familiarity with the underlying BACnet and Internet communications/protocols. Drives to job sites as needed to troubleshoot connectivity issues, perform repairs, and ensure optimal system performance. Qualifications & Education
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. In addition, specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least (1) year of specialized experience, one year of which must be equivalent to the CS-11 grade level in the District of Columbia government service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Licensure and Certifications
Current registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the District of Columbia Board of Professional Engineers or equivalent out-of-state license is required.
Valid driver's license is required for travel across the district to install, upgrade, and maintain radio communication equipment at public safety radio sites and agencies.
Working Conditions/Environment
Work is primarily in an office setting with some trips to operating facilities, which involves potential radiation or contamination exposure. The incumbent must wear protective clothing and follow standard safety procedures.

What You'll Do:
Assist with the design, procurement, logistics, installation, routine maintenance, sustainment, configuration, programming, and lifecycle replacement of PACS, IDS, VSS, and physical security systems within this contract, as well as the integration of other safety and security subsystems.
Ensure equipment is updated and operational, meeting required local, state, federal, and ADA requirements.
Assist with 3rd party security systems integrations and software updates and helps train other personnel in the use of these systems.
Assists with security assessments, technology upgrades, product selections, testing, field verification of systems and inspection of work in progress for compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Makes recommendations for security equipment and systems.
Assists with issuing, assigning access rights for access control cards and decommissioning of access control cards.
Maintains inventory of essential parts and equipment to ensure repairs and installation in a timely manner.

Create and run reports for ESS/physical security systems as required.

What You'll Bring:
