Instrumentation & Electrical Technician Reports To: Foreman Summary: The I&E Technician is tasked with equipment maintenance, calibration, and record-keeping for measurement/instrumentation and electrical equipment, in compliance with all applicable internal requirements and external regulations. Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all field instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and electrical equipment. Responsible for prompt and accurate diagnosis of minor problems and the implementation of corrective action. Consult directly with equipment vendors on problems for resolution as necessary. Knowledge of RTUs. Understanding of digital and analog 1/0, programming, and troubleshooting. Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings. Proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters. Conduct in depth failure analysis on repeat equipment failures. Conduct evaluation tests on valves, motors, instruments, etc. Coordinate and conduct well maintenance activities on wells and batteries for New Installs/Upgrades, recurring problems where root cause cannot be identified by Well Tech. Coordinate and conduct maintenance activities on end devices to include pre-programming of transmitters w/ hart communicator and ensure data accuracy on all fluid and gas measurement meters. Implement design for wells within guidelines of automation standards. Respond & provide automation support during all outages and work off assigned schedules & maintain zero out of compliance work orders Provide analytical support on problem wells. Overview: The I&E Technician will assist in the installation, troubleshooting, diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment and technology focused in the electrical and instrumentation space. This role work closely with the Work Activity Coordinator, I&E Planner, and Operations team implementing effective actions to ensure reliable operation of the electrical and instrumentation at the facility. Responsibilities Will work on instrument/electrical 24VDC, 120VAC-13.8kv. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and ordering supplies and equipment. Plan the layout and installation of electrical wiring and equipment. Support field electrical maintenance work and electrical isolation (Lock out Tag out: Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)) for lighting, air condition and motor maintenance. Performs high level maintenance and repairs (requiring de-energizing and entry and NFPA 70E certification) of Motor Control Centers and associated equipment such as switch gear, switch rack and buss inspection, motor protection equipment, and Uninterruptable Power Supplies, etc. Inspects, calibrates, and repairs end devices such as transmitters, switches, fire eyes, hazardous gas detection, level detection, loop tuning, etc. Maintains and repairs instrumentation, such as valve actuators, positioners. Works autonomously at varying times and in diverse weather conditions, at remote field locations; available for callout. Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance. Performs and accurately documents regulatory required inspections. Brings bad actors or repeat problems to the Reliability team's attention. Will participate in RCIs as needed. Will be required to install, inspect, and test new electrical equipment 120-13.8kv Interpreting data and adhering to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data. Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in the plant. A sampling of these devices includes transmitters, switches, analyzers, PH & Conductivity probes, combustion detectors, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment & personnel safety systems, paymeter systems, electrical distribution systems, transformers, single phase motors, three phase motors/motor drives & controls. Within each category are a variety of pneumatic & electronic devices Oversees contractors as needed, providing specialty services (Quality Assurance, Quality Control) Close Work Orders and document equipment relevant information in SAP. Support plant planned or unplanned outages during day or night shifts. Perform other duties as assigned or needed. Works outside, year-round under various weather conditions. Stands and walks for extended periods of time.
