Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs competent break-fix & preventative maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: observing devises in operation to determine root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; and performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical circuitry and mechanical systems.
· Identifies parts, supplies and repair items as necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.
· With minimal instruction, performs maintenance as per industry standards.
· Works with customer counterparts to execute maintenance, reliability, and preventative maintenance procedures.
· May be required to setup and operate multiple machining operations including but not limited to: lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. May perform welding tasks.
· Conforms and complies with customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and safety processes
· Documents work performed in service reports, and applicable management systems.
· Performs routine processes with and within industrial control systems to troubleshoots and analyzes complex equipment, perform equipment maintenance, and to resolve equipment problems.
· Utilizes in-depth application of electrical, mechanical, and fluid power aptitude to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
· Completes and conducts on-the-job training and technical self-study programs for career development.
· Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:
Essential KSAs:
· High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
· Associates degree with a Technical focus and 5 years of related experience in specific industry; or, 7 years of experience in specific industry.
· Must be able to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
· Possesses working knowledge and experience regarding electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems in related fields. Can analyze the problems, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs
· Extensive travel required. (Local, National).

The main duties of a Turnkey Instrumentation Service Technician will be to support and maintain industrial electronic instrumentation for customers in our Midwest territory. Work will cover both in-shop and field service responsibilities. Shop work mainly includes panel assembly/testing and instrument configuration for production orders. Field service will include commissioning, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of various types of industrial instruments like pressure and temperature transmitters, gas detection equipment, and flow meters.
Our client base covers a wide range of industries including steel mills, power utilities, hospitals, refineries, and pharmaceutical companies. Service Technicians need strong communication skills to professionally explain the status of the work performed, preventive maintenance and calibration recommendations, and/or justification for the upgrade of obsolete equipment to newer technology. The technician often serves as the liaison between the customer and our sales team, helping bring new opportunities and revenue growth to the company.
Basic job functions
Understand and follow all safe work practices as described in JMI sponsored safety training, applicable 3rd party safety training, and any jobsite specific safety training provided/required by our customers. Ensure all 3rd party and/or site-specific safety training is kept up to date as needed to gain site access and perform all required work duties.
Assemble/Wire/Test control panels from wiring and physical layout drawings provided by the engineer. Document final QC test procedure prior to shipment to the customer. Work with the engineer to resolve any identified issues with the design and/or drawings.
Support the Service Manager as directed to assist with all Service Department activities.
Perform proper repair, calibration, and startup of various types of process instrumentation initially under the supervision of the Service Manager and/or other JMI technical personnel.
Travel to customer plant sites to perform various field service activities.
File professional reports in a timely manner for service work performed.
Communicate with customers and JMI Inside/Outside sales team to coordinate service activities as needed.
Required Skills for the Position
Technical school (AAS Degree) or equivalent technical job experience.
Experience in the field of industrial instrumentation is preferred.
Self-motivated, self-managed, organized, independent, confident, and professional attitude.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be punctual and arrive on-time to all customer appointments.
Ability to listen and learn quickly.
Willingness to work on electrical equipment in an industrial environment.
Basic computer skills with a familiarity with Microsoft Office programs a plus (Word, Excel and Outlook).
Valid Driver's License
Willingness to perform occasional overnight travel to perform work and/or to get additional training.

IV. Work Shift: 12 hour shift, with occasional voluntary or mandatory overtime.
Shift: 4 days on/4 days off rotating days to nights monthly (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am)
Education/Training Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, 2-4 years of experience in industrial/electrical controls
PPE: ANSI Z41 approved safety shoes, hearing and eye protection as appropriate for work area, gloves according to work tasks, protective clothing and protective sleeves, occasional hard hat, face shield and goggles, lanyard, safety harness and other PPE as assigned and required.
Tools and Equipment: Various hand, power and pneumatic tools, mobile equipment, transport carts and devices, cleaning supplies, grease gun, aerosol cans, spray bottles, drill press, grinding and vacuum equipment, writing utensils, computer and keyboard mouse, tape measure, Multimeters, Amp meters, soldering tools
