DEFINITION / GENERAL PURPOSE: Performs a variety of tasks, semi-skilled and skilled technical work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the SCADA system. Reports water quality test results daily; including work-orders, water quality complaint reports, SCADA Data logs, and as designated by the Superintendent. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Works Under the general supervision of the SCADA Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in recording all pertinent data required by State, City, and department. Monitors and records data from SCADA system. Monitors chlorine residual within the water system. Performs accuracy tests on multiple Analyzers, Transducers, and Laboratory Test Kits on a monthly basis. Performs operational checks and maintains all pump/storage facilities within the guidelines of TCEQ, City and departmental rules and regulations. Climbs and inspects water storage tanks when required. Records weight, regulates, and changes chlorine bottles when required. Performs chlorinator, pump, and motor maintenance and repair. Responds to customer service complaints. Performs bacteriological water sampling (upon licensing, when required). Repair and maintain control valves, check-valves, and air releases. Troubleshoots minor electrical problems when required. Perform minor repairs to electrical controls, chart machines, timers, phase protectors, and SCADA components when required. Operate and maintain vehicles. Responds to emergency calls periodically (on-call 24 hours for 7 days). Performs other essential duties as required to achieve successful operations of the department. Subject to be called to assist an employee on standby duty. Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Regular and timely attendance is an essential job function. The employees must be able to spend the entire work shift on their feet within the plant environment. Some outdoor work is required which includes work in conditions with abnormal temperatures. Employee works around material stacked overhead height. Conditions range from clean work to exposure to odors, fumes, drafts, wet conditions, dirt, grease, smoke, dust, noise, high temperatures and low frigid temperatures. These conditions range from severe to mild and can happen daily and in any combination. An Electromechanical Technician works in disagreeable weather conditions nearly 30% of the year. Employee must stand and walk, as well as handle parts, tools and equipment, gripping and grasping, on a frequent to constant basis. On an occasional to frequent basis, operator is required to lift/carry parts. Most weight moved is less than 30 lb. Although a few items do weigh more, a maximum lift of 50 lb. is all that is required. Standing, bending, pivoting, walking and reaching overhead are required during most of the shift. Climbing ladders, pulling wire through conduit, hanging fixtures and electrical components also requires a physical exertion. Lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, stretching, crawling and working in awkward and/or confined positions is frequent with any electromechanical technician. Some of the physical tasks include hanging gearboxes on top of machines, changing brakes or the motors on cranes. Mental and Visual Effort The functions of this job require the employee to be alert at all times. Working in a fast-paced environment as well as the repetitious nature of this job requires both mental and visual concentration. The technician must be able to work quickly to repair plant equipment so operations can resume. There are often high stress situations where the technician needs to be able to work under adverse conditions for long periods of time using intense mental and visual concentration. Good hand to eye coordination with a good sense of depth perception is required at all time. Technicians need to be able to distinguish colors and be capable of reading manuals, schematics, labels, and other printed materials. Adequate hearing is required to diagnose problems with machines and equipment. Mental and visual concentration is needed to prevent injury to oneself, fellow workers and/or damage to the product. The use of any equipment or tools requires the employee to be alert at all times.     Job Description PRIMARY FUNCTION Under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT), supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes from mechanical, electrical, and plumbing for all production equipment and systems within the facility. The position is responsible for repairing and installing advanced production/manufacturing equipment. Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. May mentor and provide support to less experienced mechanics. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and makes more complicated repairs or adjustments as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform preventative maintenance on more advanced/sophisticated production equipment. Perform repairs on more advanced production equipment as needed. Perform breakdown analysis. Oversee or perform general housekeeping and upgrade production lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology. Direct activities of outside contractors working on assigned line. Change line for package changeovers. Enforce GMP, safety, and audit standards. Work independently under limited supervision (self-management) Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed. Respond effectively to all emergencies. Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them. Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs. Maintains a clean and safe work environment and maintains compliance with State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws. Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed, using work order system. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate' or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Ability to work flexible schedules/shifts/areas, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays. Experience working with computers and Microsoft Office (Including Outlook, Word, Excel). EXPERIENCES Completion of an applicable technical training program. 3+ years of applicable working experience in equipment maintenance, basic electrical and troubleshooting practices. 2+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a large-scale manufacturing facility Possess mechanical and electrical aptitude. A successful candidate must be self-motivated who can work independently or in a team. Ability to seek outside resources as needed. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbent must be able to operate a computer. Lift/carry 40lb. or less, push/pull 12lbs. or less. Stooping, bending, stretching, and reaching outward and over their head. This position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary. May require travel. Associates will be required to take all appropriate training classes as required. Willingness to cross-train into other departments.
