Key Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot, repair and complete preventative maintenance on Ground Service Equipment (both motorized and non-motorized)
Work will include diagnostic testing and repair of gas engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems
Troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines, heavy industrial equipment, including large aircraft air conditioners, air start and ground electrical power units
Ground Service Equipment Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment
There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues which are set by the Local Lodge

Job Description
Under general supervision, the Electronic Instrumentation Technician at the Wastewater Enterprise, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, performs a wide variety of highly skilled technical work on process control, industrial communications and monitoring equipment for the City's wastewater processing system.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Operates test apparatus such as Diagnostic Test Equipment (DTE), using established testing procedures to produce, regulate and record effects of actual or simulated conditions; prepares reports interpreting test data to useable terms; may direct other technical personnel assisting in test procedures;
Performs diagnostic, corrective and preventive maintenance on complex electronic systems and instruments, including analog pneumatic and digital electronic equipment; install, test, troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controller interfaces located at a wastewater treatment facility;
Maintains records of work performed; develops documentation for the maintenance, installation, removal and modification of electronic systems and equipment;
Installs and inspects new equipment; evaluates performance under operating conditions; assists engineers in the design, fabrication or modification of fixtures, instruments and related apparatus; and verifies and evaluates dimensional and functional acceptability and performance of such devices;
Operates special power or hand tools and measuring equipment including soldering equipment, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, analyzers, calibrators, hand generators, power suppliers and other instruments used in operating, testing, calibrating or repairing electromechanical and electrohydraulic apparatuses.
The 7336 Electronic Instrumentation Technician (WPC) performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education:
Completion of a two-year AA or AS degree program in Electronics or Instrumentation or equivalent, such as an Electronics or Instrumentation Certificate from a recognized trade or technical school, or military training in Electronics or Instrumentation; AND
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial electronic or pneumatic instrumentation and control equipment AND
License and Certification: Possession of a current valid Class C Driver's License.
Substitution:
Completion of a State (DAS) or Federal (DOL) certified apprenticeship program may substitute for the required education and experience; OR
Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Applicants who are anticipated to complete such an apprenticeship program (7312 Apprentice Electronic Instrumentation Technician II, Water Pollution Control) within the following 12 months will be admitted to the examination and will be placed under “General Waiver” until the Certificate of Completion is issued or applicant provide evidence that they have successfully completed 87.5% of the program. (evidence could be a confirmation email from DAS or DHR).

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE The Engineer II - Client Technology provides advanced engineering support across a broad range of technologies and platforms. This role plays a critical part in anticipating and resolving escalated technical issues and ensuring the reliability and performance of end-user technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Development & Delivery:
* Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and application issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
* Proactively ensure user devices are secure, compliant, and performing efficiently, regularly coordinating upgrades, patches and refreshes
* Leverage diagnostic tools, monitoring platforms and system logs to identify and troubleshoot issues
* Engineer, analyze, configure, implement, and maintain technology tools and solutions
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Work closely with stakeholders to understand their technology needs and deliver solutions
* Continuously evaluate user needs, proactively designing and implementing strategies that support updated, high-performing user technologies and create a positive user experience
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and validate solutions as needed
* Understand and support specialized business use cases of client technologies
Operational Excellence, Quality & Compliance:
* Access and manage systems via administrative consoles with elevated privileges
* Create documentation for technical solutions, deployment procedures, and automation scripts
* Provide product training to internal support staff on relevant technologies
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* No supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education:
* High School diploma and 9 years of experience; or
* Associate's degree and 7 years of experience; or
* Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; or
* Equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Technical certification may be required
Experience:
* Proven experience analyzing and solving complex technical problems on a broad range of technology platforms
* Experience implementing engineering solutions to client technology issues
* Familiarity with administrative consoles and elevated system access
* Experience working in Agile environments and using ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA, JSM)
* Experience delivering an exceptional client experience
* Proven experience providing advanced level engineering support
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Proven ability to use engineering practices and principles to resolve technical issues in an IT environment
* Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining client technologies
* Ability to resolve complex technical issues and contribute to process improvements
* Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
* Experience with scripting or automation tools to streamline tasks and workflows

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Troubleshoot and resolve user access issues related to Okta Biometric MFA, including login failures, password resets, and profile updates
* Monitor Okta system health and performance, analyzing logs and proposing operational efficiencies such as automations and workflows
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Experience:
* Experience working with IAM technologies
* Substantial experience investigating and resolving user access issues
* Basic knowledge of services like Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID and cloud based applications
Knowledge/Skills:
* Thorough knowledge of IAM technologies
* Customer Service: Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a service-oriented mindset

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $105,500 - $150,500 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate's geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
