Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and support for our analytical instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products, including demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair and maintenance support for assigned products, including installations.
Conduct in-house bench repairs and onsite customer repairs as needed while primarily handling field service calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $61,000 to $63,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan (10% of base salary) based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use), company laptop, and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

Under general supervision of the Supervisor, the Instrument Technician carries out assigned tasks to repair, install,
troubleshoot, and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance on electronic and control equipment and
associated devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Must be computer literate with basic skills in Windows, MS Word, and Internet use.

• Resolve technical issues within time schedule and provide the break and fix solution using OEM standard
• Able to dis-assemble and re-assemble Cell Phone into a good cosmetic housing
• Able to remove LCD from back-housing and replace them with a new one
• Able to remove mother-board and battery
• Able to replace screws and make component replacements
• Must be flexible to do other assigned responsibility depending on where need
Essential Skills and Experience:
• ESD knowledge from previous job and ability to pass ESD exam
• Complete understanding of phone components
• Must be detail oriented with quality assurance focus in order to deliver quality repairs
• Must have basic trouble shooting skills-Must have Rework experience of cell phones
• Must have basic computer skills and able to document repairs done of the cell phones
• Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed by the customer
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to operate test equipment.
Ability to read some schematics.
Good manual dexterity.
Possess soldering and de-soldering skills is a plus
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Must be able to perform both surface mount and thru-hole soldering techniques, as well as operate automated repair equipment (BGA machine).

Overview of the Role

Who You'll Work With

Major Accountabilities:
Tests, adjusts, installs, operates, maintains, and inspects computerized systems, robotic devices, control systems, and manufacturing equipment and workstation installations, using skills in electronics, fluid power, mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
Monitor and perform routine diagnostic checks, troubleshoots problems, and repairs found issues in automation equipment/control panels to minimize production downtime and maximize efficiency.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment systems and electrical components.
Duties and Responsibilities
Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products, such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, machine tools, and measuring equipment.
Document all maintenance activities, repairs, system changes, and troubleshooting procedures accurately.
Collaborates with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to implement automation solutions that enhance system reliability and performance.
Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to support equipment upgrades, preventive maintenance, and process improvements.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes during all phases of work.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or related field.
3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of electrical controls (Siemens), ladder logic programming, and control panel wiring.
Hands-on experience with pneumatics and mechanical systems integration.
