The work at M015 is to categorize different energetic and explosive materials, some that are known and some that are unknown in an effort to scale up safe handling efforts. M015 is the first line in developing safety and handling procedures that are used in all the mixing and production areas. It uses technology and calibrated measuring equipment but also relies heavily on hearing and sight. The job can be physically demanding as you will be on your feet for most of the day. You will engage in problem solving. Attention to detail is crucial for performing tests as well as compiling data. The safety data generated by this lab is scaled up to determine proper handling methods that are used in manufacturing and shipping of finished products, so precision is crucial. The tests will generate loud noises, flashes of light, smoke and fumes. PPE for all these is provided and required. Must be willing to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, smock, respirators, hearing protection, dust masks, Tyvek sleeves and other PPE as deemed necessary. You will be responsible for performing routine testing for long periods of time. Good communication skills are required for both written and spoken words as you will communicate directly with company customers as well as government representatives.
