Updates and keeps track of changes in route information, customer alerts, and board changes and advises the public and internal customer service department personnel. Monitors weather, traffic, and other impacts on transit operations and customers. * Uses CAD/AVL system to monitor vehicle activity and provide transit status (route, schedule, and tracking information) to management team and division personnel. * Uses CAS bulletin board to publish information updates for management team and division personnel. * Uses route-schedule list and bus stop list to provide route, schedule and bus stop information. * Uses website tools to provide trip planning assistance and inform customers on delays and cancellations. * Responds to customer telephone inquiries on routes, schedules, fares, and other HRT services with complete information and recommendations on HRT services to meet customers' needs. * Prepares customer alerts and notifications using a variety of means including email, text, websites, passenger information displays, mobile fare payment applications, and CAD/AVL. * respond to customer complaints and inquiries. * Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers while handling calls related to customer service department functions. * Manages records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures. * Responds to serious incidents, crises, and emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures. * Complies with HRT policies. * Supports special events as directed. * Performs other duties as required. The Manager is responsible for the development of transit service including strategic/long range planning, short-range planning, service and cost analysis, and regional coordination; develops, recommends, and implements service plans and programs reflecting the goals and objectives of the agency. This is a senior managerial/professional position of substantial responsibility and accountability. Also conducts an internal visual inspection at the end of revenue service to collect and turn-in lost items. * Complete familiarization with system and safety features; geography and roadways of an assigned route and of the entire service area; traffic rules, regulations and laws, transfer points and fare structures. * Refers to time schedules and instructions for pull-outs, line service, pull-ins, and off-route trips. * Provides information on bus services to passengers which include bus schedules, routes and fare information. * Receives and transmits two-way radio messages involving accidents, incidents, emergencies, criminal activities, or other authorized HRT business utilizing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individual safety. * Maintains radio contact with CENTRAL Communication to report transit vehicle breakdown, accidents, interruptions in service, or other vital information to maintain efficient transit operations. * Writes reports and completes forms as required, may prepare detailed written reports concerning accidents incidents, breakdowns and mechanical defects, as required at the end of their shift. * Adheres to safety rules, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the well being of Hampton Roads Transit customers and employees. * Operates a passenger bus safely and effectively in accordance with the Virginia Code and local traffic regulations. * Maintains scheduled time over assigned route. * Ensures safe operation of HRT vehicles under adverse conditions. * Performs vehicle operations at varying hours of day and night.
