I learned a lot as a machinist apprentice
Management sucked, low pay, 12 hour shifts and the pink cutting oil for titanium smelled horrible. Deburring caused hearing loss and ear ringing. The 12 hr shifts 6 days for piss poor wages. I got the job through probation dept of suffolk county. My hair was falling out from working 7 pm to 7 am 6 days a week. The manager tried to screw me out of my last week's pay. He was a foreigner and condescending.
I liked using the overhead crane and loading the cutter heads for f-14 parts.
