Elliott Aviation company history timeline

1936

Elliott Aviation’s world-class service company actually began quite modestly in 1936 when Herb Elliott started Elliott Flying Service on a grass airstrip in DeWitt, Iowa.

Since 1936, it has grown and evolved, adapted, and innovated to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers.

1939

With initial success underway, Herb and Arlene married in 1939.

1947

In 1947, they became an exclusive dealer of Beechcraft products.

1976

In 1976, Beechcraft renamed their annual “Man of the Year” award and presented the Elliott’s with the first-ever “Team of the Year” award.

1993

Herb and Arlene’s son, Wynn, assumed the company’s helm in 1993 overseeing Elliott Aviation’s entire network of operations and extensive expansions.

1995

In 1995, the company changed its name to Elliott Aviation to better reflect the full scope of services provided.

2003

In 2003, Elliott Aviation opened its Completions Center in Moline offering turnkey custom interior design services, custom woodworking, and cabinetry, avionics installations and modifications, noise reduction installations, and paint.

2007

In 2007, a new Paint and Interior Design Center was constructed at the company’s Moline facility on the Quad City International Airport.

2008

2008 also saw the start of Elliott Aviation’s industry-leading Garmin G1000 retrofit program in the King Air with their first installation in a C90.

In 2008, Elliott Aviation completed its new $8 million facility in Des Moines, IA, adjacent to their already existing building at Des Moines International Airport.

2009

In 2009, Garmin G1000 retrofits began in the King Air 200 series.

2011

In 2011, the company opened its accessory shop to overhaul and repair landing gear and other aircraft accessories.

2012

In 2012, Elliott Aviation began installing Garmin G1000 retrofits in King Air 300/350.

2014

In 2014, the aircraft sales division of the company, which had been operating under the name Elliott Aviation, was renamed to Elliott Jets to better reflect the types of aircraft the company was selling.

2019

In 2019, the company installed their first Garmin G5000 in a Citation Excel, which started their industry-leading program in Citation Excel/XLS.

2020

In 2020, Elliott Aviation was purchased by Summit Park, a company out of Charlotte, NC. Later that year, Elliott Aviation acquired Atlanta-based MRO, The Maintenance Group.
