Position/Project Overview:
Project Solutions Inc. is seeking a Construction Management Representative to join a National Park Service (NPS) project within Acadia National Park (ACAD) in Bar Harbor, Maine. The project includes the rehabilitation and resurfacing of 5 miles of the historic Park Loop Road System (FHWA Route 300, Mile 0.00-5.00), the most heavily used visitor route in the park. In addition, Egg Rock Overlook (Route 0914) and MDI East Precipice Parking (Route 0915) will be paved to improve surface uniformity and visitor safety.
The scope of work includes pavement preservation through crack sealing, milling, patching, and asphalt overlay; restoration and construction of swales and ditches; repair of stone guard walls and regrading of shoulders; installation of new pavement markings and traffic signage; and rehabilitation of culverts and inlets, including stone masonry features. The CMR will also provide quality assurance oversight in close coordination with the National Park Service and the general contractor.
This role is contingent upon award of project.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
Read, interpret and understand the construction contract plans and specifications.
Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance.
Understand and document inspections during and post construction as well as mock-up inspections.
Monitor Construction Contractor compliance with Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Asbestos hazard Abatement Plan (AHAP), and applicable safety requirements.
Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO.
Review, analyze, and assist in preparing cost estimates.
Review and process Construction Contractor's RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up.
Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum four (4) year Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management or other related field

All students at COA design their own transdisciplinary degree within our single major of human ecology. Some students pursue careers in education; most will use educational studies to prepare for a range of other post-graduation trajectories, such as the arts, business, counseling, environmental sciences, healthcare, food systems, law and policy, research, and social work, among other occupations. The college seeks candidates who can inspire students to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning within and beyond traditional classroom settings. Ideal candidates will be eager to collaborate across disciplines to support students and to teach educational studies courses that engage learners involved in inter- and transdisciplinary projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong potential for excellence and innovation in teaching, including the ability to effectively reach underserved student populations and support learning in linguistically diverse classrooms. We are especially interested in candidates who have applied knowledge of experiential education, educational research, and public education.
A qualified candidate is expected to teach courses based in experiential education, educational foundations and philosophy, multicultural education, critical pedagogy, and curriculum and instruction. All education courses at COA, even those focused on performance-based certification standards, need to have a clear relationship to the overall human ecology curriculum. COA offers teacher certification programs in pre-K-12 art, elementary education, secondary life science, secondary social studies, and secondary English. COA's teacher education certifications are soon up for program review; the successful candidate will work as a member of a team of academic deans and faculty on the program review and to evaluate the place of teacher certification in the curriculum.
The successful candidate will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with local schools and liaise with the district schools, State of Maine, and other educational entities within the community (e.g., Montessori and Waldorf schools, historical societies, after school and summer programs). They should also expect to serve as a resource on innovative and equitable teaching practices for their faculty colleagues.
COA is an interdisciplinary college of approximately 350 students and 35 faculty. The average class size is 13. Our educational approach integrates knowledge from all academic disciplines and seeks to understand and improve the relationships between humans and their built, natural, and social-cultural environments. Faculty teach five courses a year distributed across three 10-week terms; faculty also advise students, direct independent studies and senior projects, and contribute to the shared governance of the college. * Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule. Properly stock and inventory the vessel's spare parts. Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed. Assist shore technicians as needed. Maintain daily logs. Make emergency repairs when needed.
* Maintain a safe and clean engine room. Train new engineers as required. Ensure that performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirements.
* Conduct drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew.
* The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with moderate to loud noise levels.
* The Marine operation is subject to varying levels of motion, movement, and vibration.

Hornblower is seeking an Assistant Engineer for our Seaward Services operation aboard Alakai. About You: This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System. About the Opportunity: The Second Assistant Engineer is responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the vessels' engineering plant as well as supervision of engineering department members. The Alakai is a high-speed passenger and car ferry traveling between Maine and Nova Scotia. Rotation is usually 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Maintenance and operation of vessel systems within legal requirements of USCG, FCC and other pertinent regulatory agencies. Participate in the safe operation of the vessel as required within USCG regulations.
* Report any problems to the Chief Engineer immediately. Understudy the Chief Engineer and be able to act in his absence. Perform all duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel's Second Assistant Engineer. Operate the vessel appropriate to the parameters of the IMO-HSC.
* Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedule. Properly stock and inventory the vessel's spare parts. Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks when needed. Assist shore technicians as needed. Maintain daily logs. Make emergency repairs when needed.
* Maintain a safe and clean engine room. Train new engineers as required. Ensure that performance and behavior of engineers meets legal and professional requirements.
* Conduct drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew.
* The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with moderate to loud noise levels.
* The Marine operation is subject to varying levels of motion, movement, and vibration.
* The Second Assistant Engineer both lives and works onboard a vessel, on a rotational basis, generally for 56 Days on - 56 Days off (+).
* Additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
* Bachelor's degree preferred from maritime academy, or in related field, or equivalent experience.
* Minimum Third Assistant Engineer Unlimited Horsepower USCG License.
* STCW 95 Certificate
* A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
* Have and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.
* Computer literacy in Microsoft office software.

Education, Training or Certifications Required:
